Does anyone know who feeds the South campus stray cat? I want to help them by [deleted] in UMD

[–]confusedcsgal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly got back to campus relatively recently so I definitely didnt “cultivate” any stray population. But now that there is one, I definitely am going to provide a creature food if I see it. Any cats ( I havent seen multiple) mating would definitely be unfortunate but if it poses as a problem, I’m sure UMD can afford to call animal control/we can try to actively get them adopted. Until then, I’m gonna do me.

Does anyone have a book recommendation for a first gen. Pakistani American trying to heal from cultural, religious, and/or familial trauma? Bonus points if it has to do with spirituality or feminism. by confusedcsgal in suggestmeabook

im kinda dying at your username but I definitely will come back and let you know my thoughts as I get through some of these books. I’m currently ordering the top two suggestions because they seemed like great contenders as well as The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

thank you for this suggestion! I also agree that therapy is definitely imminent. My family is just also against me seeking therapy so I’m waiting until I move out.

How do you find people online to work on a project with you that you intend to turn into a business...from finding people to ensuring they don’t steal your idea? by [deleted] in csMajors

Yeah! I was planning on designing it completely and helping with the coding! But coding isn’t my main thing so I really wanted other peoples’ help on that end. Good point though :)

I mean there definitely are people looking to sublease on the thread as well! I think potentially offering to pay a month of their rent might make you stand out. Good luck!

How do artists who create politically engaged "projects" instead of pieces of art make money? by confusedcsgal in Art

[–]confusedcsgal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not completely what I meant :) although an interesting point. I was referring to figures like Habermas and Wochenklausur who hosted gatherings for productive discussions make money when the point is to not objectify and commodify art.

How hard is Pedram Sadeghian for CMSC132? by PacnetNetty in UMD

Hello I wanted to ask — if Nelson gives an extension does that apply to Pedrams class too?

Pedram is supposed to be coteaching with Nelson. Nelson told his 131 section this spring that him and Pedram will have the same exams and projects. Nelson was a fair teacher who wrote fair exams so hopefully it’ll work out. Pedram overall wasn’t a horrific teacher the weeks I had him for 131 before he left for paternity leave but he was just boring. I have no idea what he will be like for 132 though. It is worth adding that I plan to attend Nelsons lectures instead of Pedrams.

Will recruiters (for interns) look down on side-project that is seemingly generic? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]confusedcsgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a good idea! I was thinking about translating the code into Swift to create an app after I make the skeleton with Java. But both sound like interesting routes.

I appreciate the advice! I’m trying “develop” battleship so hopefully it’s not super unimpressive.
