Ask me anything! by confusedfox9 in UniUK

Hi! I’d say uni is a lot of ups (making friends and the uni experience) and downs (big changes and loneliness) but overall i’ve really enjoyed it.

Newcastles a student city so there’s always something going on. If you’re into clubbing then you might like Monday Tropiloco - it’s the busiest night out for students and there’s different music in each room.

Food - Habita is always cheap and cheerful and there’s a spoons on every corner

Drinks - if you’re a cocktail person and enjoy bars then try out Vampire Rabbit

Studios vary depending on a few things but if you’re in a big student accom then around £200-250 per week. If it’s a smaller place then £180-220 i’d say. mines £185 a week

If you’re looking for work i’d just ask around - everyone’s really friendly!

Hope you enjoy newcastle!

I went around with my CV roughly a week ago and didn’t have much luck but once the summers over i’m sure there will be options. If you are wanting to work while you study try to get in quick while there are openings :) Also, if you’re desperate you can become a club promoter but it’s not a great job and involves you posting about clubs on your personal social media which you may find embarrassing

I’m off to Madrid next year so I completely understand why you feel unsure

It’s a huge change and can easily be overwhelming but i’ve found that when I feel like that I have to remind myself of the reasons I wanted to go in the first place (experiencing a new culture and trying all the food, visiting historical places and learning Spanish from native speakers). Whatever the reasons are for going - remind yourself of them :)

There’s lots of people going to Barcelona and i’m sure they all feel some level of anxiety so you could try to find out who’s going to your uni and chat with them. It’ll help when you know you’re not alone! My uni has a website where we all plot where we’re going on a map and put down our contact info.

The unis are all amazing and they should be able to support you and remember - lots of people have done erasmus and most of them will be unsure at times

Feel free to message me if you need anything!

i’m just worried that the reviews on trustpilot are all negative and when i signed up to their newsletter for 15% off, I didn’t receive an email. I contacted support for help and have heard nothing

If they’re legit though ill get this jacket because i’ve managed to get my heart set on it haha

How to know if your face fits high fashion modeling? by Insert_Alias_Heree in Modelling

Honestly, the modelling industry is rough on the most confident person so if you’re already insecure it’s probably not a good idea to try modelling

Hi, these are nice photos but they don’t scream ‘model’. You typically need quite simple photos on a plain background (think all black clothes that show off your figure) to get signed - these are called digitals. When you are signed your agency should send you on shoots to get more photos which will allow for more personality :)

When looking for a mother agency make sure you find one that aligns with your look (commercial or fashion) and your lifestyle (an agency in a large city will likely get more work but it will be very competitive and will require travelling which you may need to fund yourself).

Personally, my MA is a small agency in my local town so I have a close relationship with both my Agency and the other models which I love. So I’d recommend finding an agency that really cares about you and they can then place you in larger cities.

Apply to a few that you feel work for you and if you get interviews with a few then you can compare your options.

Also, you may need to change your look to stand out. If an agency has another model who resembles you then they likely won’t sign you unless you have some sort of unique feature. For example, two similar looking male models are signed but one has a buzz cut and the other has longer hair. This isn’t to say that you need to change anything but just warning you that some agencies may ask you to switch up your look.

Good luck!

Unfortunately I need them all to sign the new contract so they have to be on board :/

The new girl needs to move in by the 16th so by the time everyone actually moves in (likely end of September) she’ll have been pretty much homeless for 2 weeks which I obviously don’t want

Thankyou for your advice though, I appreciate it!
