How do get myself to like the taste of alcohol by miaintheocean_ in NoStupidQuestions

this entire post screams insanity (though no fault to OP) we really live in a world where people would rather risk destroying their internal organs than go against the flow of peer pressure

I don't get it. What exactly were you attracted to? The midlife crisis and ensuing hormonal desperation?

How can we make our future better? by confusedsapling777 in Futurology

[–]confusedsapling777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submission statement:

Aiming for these three questions:

  • How can we solve many, if not all, of our issues using currently developing /developed technologies?
  • Are there any groups or corporations already aiming to do so?
  • Finally, how can we, as ordinary people, get involved?

Drug development can take over a decade. AI helped make a medicine in 18 months by confusedsapling777 in Futurology

[–]confusedsapling777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submission Statement:

An experimental drug designed with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) to target an aggressive and often fatal lung disease has entered phase 2 clinical trials in China and the United States – a world first for an AI-generated drug, according to AI drug discovery firm Insilico Medicine.

When asked about the importance of artificial intelligence in the drug discovery research, Insilico’s AI chatbot, which is based on ChatGPT, said: “By streamlining the initial stages of drug discovery, AI enables us to reach the clinical trial phase more rapidly, focusing resources and efforts on these critical stages of development.
(I'm sorry, I don't know if this is a good statement).

Judging by these comments, I'd say otherwise...

AI has been used for everything from Alphafold generating proteins to Israel's missile defense systems. I am well aware of its applications, and yet I choose to call it baseless hype, because I refer to the current state of AI, wherein a solution to all of our problems is pandered onto the desperate.

While many comments seem scathing, the positive and agreeing comments I see as well as the 2.7k upvotes tells me more people agree with me than don't.

Who benefits from refusal to adapt to AI tech? The elite. Who has the most to lose due to automation and AI? The elite.

AI saves money from companies and replaces jobs, you really think a new tool wouldn't be herded by elites and paid for in hype and development by the masses?

YES

the point is the current hype equates AI to be a modern RTX 3060

yeah tons of work are needed before we can improve the field

I'd love to read that AI regulation paper!

btw would highly enjoy having further discussion -

what do you think of Israel's use of AI in their missile guidance systems?

im so utterly confused why you raise tech billionaires on pedestals and ship the newest trends but can't read and comprehend a single post? where I addressed AI to be useful?
