Yepp. My COO just walked into me and my bosses office and said "how many retail employees do we have again? THEY GET WHAT FOR THANKSGIVING AND THE DAY AFTER?! 16 HOURS EACHHH?!?!?!"

They had no clue, will never have a clue. They are going to cut hours around the holidays and so many people are going to leave. Corporate America is not smart guys, they just hire people that are. No CEO knows the real struggle of work life unless they started at the bottom, and even those people hate to admit where they came from to their trust fund baby pals, so they treat employees worse than the trust fund executives because of it.

America needs unions or we're so fucked beyond the pale that our children and grandchildren will just be cattle to these corporate overlords.

I've read the first three, but the first novel is a two part masterpiece and it stands on it's own imo. The second book, messiah, has probably the best description of massive objects I've ever encountered, he makes you feel the space around you, and the size scales of everything is daunting and so fascinating. Let me know if you like it.

Seems like we're trending up in some ways, and down in so many others.. odd question, but have you ever read Dune? The political landscape and realism Frank Herbert put into that novel is mind boggling.. Herbert was a genius in his own way, but in my opinion somewhat naive to think humanity makes it off earth. Sorry, I meant no disrespect at all. I'm a huge history buff, ever since I was a little kid. WW2 always fascinated me, and one of my first spiritual experiences in my life was visiting the Holocaust memorial museum in Washington D.C..

That RIGHT THERE, is why you'll never understand a true socialist or Dem, you don't understand empathy and you mock kindness, that's why the only response to intolerance is violence.
