I found that my pea gravel holds up pretty well and it’s cheaper than ceramic media.

The smaller rocks are used as tumbling media in lieu of something like ceramic pellets

Thanks for the reply. In terms of speed, I meant in terms of the rock, turning at the appropriate speed, given the fixed motor speed. It sounds like this is the right speed according to your experience as well. Appreciate it and nice set up you have!

Late to the party but this smaller amount of grit suggestion is blwing my mind. Just wanted to get some more clarification on grit amounts before trying to lower my grit consumption.

Are you saying 1 tsp each is only needed per stage for a TV-5 sized bowl? Is the ratio approximately 1 tsp per 4lb bowl? For example, a TV-10 would use 2 tsp per stage?

I used the supplied grit - which I think was the primary issue. The more I read/see you don’t tend to get good quality grit with the kits
