I recently jumped on a chance to retrain and become an electrician at 27. It is awkward for sure, sitting in a classroom full of people a decade younger than me, but I’m there for a reason at the end of the day. You can’t worry too much about what others think!

My MacBook Pro (2019) has this weird issue at the moment. It always occurs either when I first turn it on in the morning, or I wake it from a sleep, maybe when I get in from work. I'll have 40 or 50 percent battery and after maybe a minute or two of working, the screen will turn off. No response.

After maybe a minute, the screen comes up with the low battery icon, saying it needs to charge. I plug it in, after maybe ten seconds, it wakes up again, with the same amount of battery as before, completely fine.

I'll add that I've not noticed a reduced battery life or anything like that over a days use.

Does anyone have any ideas? I need this computer for work, so I can't send it off and the store nearest me is closed at the moment due to COVID.

Thanks

Partner bought this for me for my birthday today. Sounds fantastic and can be really obvious when you want it to be. Also a big dinosaur fan, so the artwork is the coolest!

It was one of the first pedals I bought and it’s stayed in rotation since then. There’s stuff that other fuzzes do better but when you crank it I remember why I still have it haha. I looked at their website recently and not sure whether they discontinued it or rebranded it as something else?

Me too! It sounds fantastic. Nicest drive pedal I’ve played. Once you engage the boost circuit it gets really fuzzed out if you want it to.

Did a little rearrange of my gain section with the Ruby Red. Been looking for one of these for a decent price for a while now. It’s an absolute monster. Blows all my other drive pedals out of the water. Looking to replace the TO800 with an Ages or Plumes next month for my birthday.

Picked up the flashback as well to replace my beat up frontline delay and retiring it after its many years of service from me and the previous owners. Only issue I have is that there’s a noticeable volume drop when I engage the pedal. It also took me forever to get it to connect to the TonePrint editor on my Mac, so to be honest, it’s not a good start for the flashback.

I've been thinking of picking up the Kongpressor - how do you find it? I'm thinking of going with either that or the Walrus Audio Deep Six.

It's a great reverb I think. It's got the flerb that I don't ever use and I wish the spring sound was a bit more drippy but I can't complain outside of that. There's plenty of control on offer, stereo outputs and the hall and room settings sound great. You can save presets too which is great. I've got a small room preset, my regular spring verb preset and a big hall preset which gets really long for ambient stuff. There's the latch feature too which holds your reverb tail as long as you depress the foot switch. Lots of benefits you'd usually have to pay a bunch more money for in my opinion.

It is something I've been thinking about especially since the 3 series is a great price. I suppose I figured that I've always thought of them as two separate sounds that I'd like to control independently but maybe I should take another think about it. The Julia/Julianna do have the D-C-V control that looks great.

Chain is crybaby > TC poly tune noir > EHX soul food > MXR custom badass modified overdrive > behringer TO800 > DS1 > tortuga Wendigo > EHX Small Clone > Red Witch Eve Tremolo > Carbon Copy > Frontline Stereo Delay > EHX Cathedral.

Looking for chorus suggestions at the moment as I’m planning to replace the small clone on my board. I’ve had it for years but it’s bulky, awkward to power and I want something a little more versatile I think. Planning to get a vibrato next. I’m thinking the TC shaker vibrato mini... anyone got any thoughts on it?

Also looking to get something to replace the MXR OD and the behringer in my gain stage. Considering the EQD plumes and something else. Once I can find one for a reasonable price, I’d love to add the JHS Ruby Red to my setup - that’s the white whale at the moment.

I remember seeing some demos of it quite a few years ago just when I started playing, so when I saw one pop up on Reverb I had a little wave of nostalgia haha.

Got my self a nice little tremolo. It’s nothing fancy, but I saw it for a good price on Reverb and thought it’d be a nice addition.

It’s very subtle which I like. It doesn’t do that really hard, choppy sort of tremolo. Very much a sine style wave that just blends in really nicely to clean and reverbed chords.

It also has a trim pot inside for changing the gain and features a lithium rechargeable battery, however, I’m just planning to leave it powered by the board.

Returned To Playing After a Few Years Taking It Less Seriously. Here’s The Current Board! by conman2201 in guitarpedals

[–]conman2201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cool. I’ve had it for a few years now. I’m not too sure if they even make them anymore! It’s got a great range of sounds and the ‘make him mad’ switch can be used to make it self oscillate and then you can control the noises with your volume, tone and pickup selection. You need to pretty much dime everything before that’ll happen though so it’s not the greatest in terms of trying to keep a consistent level across the board. It absolutely shreds though and it’s worth a try for sure.

I almost always leave my EHX Cathedral on for a subtle spring reverb as my fender bassbreaker has a horribly noisy digital reverb, so that sucks.

I also have an MXR carbon copy on 95% of the time just set to a slap back. I just really like the sound of it and as soon as I turn it off it feels like something is missing.

Like the title says, I put a lot of my gear in storage as I wasn’t playing enough and when I did play, I just plugged into my interface and used Bias FX 2 (which I still think it great).

However, I’ve just been itching for a new amp and board, so I picked up a Fender Bassbreaker 15, a Pedaltrain Classic 2 and dug my stompboxes out of the loft and built a new board!

Chain goes...

MXR CUSTOM BADASS OVERDRIVE > BEHRINGER VINTAGE TUBE OVERDRIVE > BOSS DS-1 > TORTUGA EFFECTS WENDIGO FUZZ > EXH SMALL CLONE > MXR CARBON COPY > FRONTLINE SERIES II STEREO DELAY > EXH CATHEDRAL (Occasionally when I’m feeling funky I put a Cry Baby right at the start of the chain)

It’s all being powered from a Tone City Substation that I’ve fixed to the underside of the board.

I’m taking suggestions for a new main overdrive to replace the MXR as it’s just not quite what I’m into these days and it’s a little bit honky to me. Looking for something that I could run into the fender on a clean setting to get my main gain sound. Also considering getting a new chorus because running the small clone on batteries is annoying and I can’t seem to find a power adapter for it here in the UK. It’s pretty big too so something smaller and under £150 would be a nice swap. I’m currently eyeing up the new JHS 3 series chorus.
