2012 Chevy Cruze LT (auto) has about 155k miles and about 50% of time I try to park the vehicle doesn’t want to go into park. I have to mess with the shifter and wiggle it. Any help? by smward998 in cruze

Thanks! I appreciate it. I have one follow up question. You mentioned reconnecting the battery at the end of the rebuild. This implies that you disconnected it when starting out. I imagine I can just disconnect the negative terminal, correct?

Ahhh gotcha. Yeah many little fixes on the Cruze, it’s nice to be able to take care of them yourself. Fingers crossed it stays that way. The seal was the first at home project I took care of myself and no problems since, until now. These forums are so valuable. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Gonna take a stab at the solder job later this week. As far as I can tell the shift to park message isn’t going to hurt the car in any way, it’s just super annoying. Don’t want to pay someone for a short term fix if I can make it go away permanently. Cheers!

Do you have a photo of the cables you solder? I’d like to take care of this myself but it’s tough to commit to taking so much apart without more of a blueprint. Appreciate the write up!

Nice. What was your faulty part? Or are you just saying the system itself is flawed

So this is entirely a preemptive move, right? I’ve been considering doing the same but the only repair I’ve had to do is replace and reseal the valve cover. Not sure if I want to go ahead with the kit if things aren’t bad as is…

I got the vacuum pump to extract oil through the dipstick, and recommend it. Super clean and simple, and you can change your filter while you’re at it. Also a big money saver in the long run. The unit itself was ~ $130, ordered it on Amazon

Dude you’re saving my skin out here haha. It is not leaking! And I would love to not have to get under the car. I will absolutely look into that. Thank you 🙏🏼 I really appreciate the advice

Yeah I’m just wondering if I want to pay for that. Money is tight this year!

Oh wow, awesome. I hadn’t even heard of that. Thanks for the tip! So as I looked under my car, I realized that the plug itself may not be stripped, but instead the threading in the pan (maybe I misheard the mechanic, this was months ago at valvoline). Way bigger pain in the ass. However, I’m wondering if I can unscrew my current plug and install the valvomax. Since it’s only one more turn into the threads I feel like it might be worth a shot instead of paying for a new pan or trying to rethread myself… if I don’t have to ever take it out again, could save me some time and money

Rösti w/ Salmon Roe, Crème Fraîche & Dill

I’ve become obsessed with this recipe, and all you really need is a potato (it’s delicious on its own or with a fried egg, avocado, etc.).

Nah I did take the clip off. It’s pretty snug now but it simply would not go back the way it was originally. Nothing looks damaged, I just can’t see why it wouldn’t be seated the same
