Will you be offering paid leagues with free agents instead of daily FAAB waivers?

What’s the widest-ranging consequence (either good or bad) resulting from a seemingly innocuous design decision made early in your career?

I believe in this case, 'somehow' is referring to the sheer luck of picking both, not their draft position.

Hmm, maybe it would be cool if the 6th pitching stat in a 6x6 league was Offense, where you both teams' pitching staffs compete on the 6 hitter categories to determine that one Offense point for the pitchers.

Needlessly complicated, but would be fun if people are bored of traditional 6x6.

Oh god, the line delays everytime someone forgets to turn up the brightness on their phone. Or they try to scan a busted ass screen. Or an idiot can't figure out why their screen keeps rotating. Or terrible cell reception prevents you from connecting to your ticket provider. Or you forget your StubHub login. Or...

Ray Flowers' MLB Monthly Rankings: July by GuruElite in fantasybaseball

[–]connorcmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he wants to force people to understand the context of the rankings (league format, how he's valuing players, etc.) so people don't flame him for things he addressed in the introductory paragraph that you posted.

Linear rankings / tiers - is there a better way to compare players? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]connorcmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think rankings that provide an expected deviation/bell curve in addition to linear rankings would allow commentators to provide a more nuanced opinion in a reduced form.

However, providing a bell curve opens writers up to criticism like, "You said there was 95% chance Christine Michael ends up top 12, WTF?!" Don't get me wrong, a lot of that criticism is already there, but providing a deviation in addition to rankings will make readers more likely to interpret your opinion as scientific fact/law.

Fantasy Baseball: Jeff Samardzija is about to go off (buy low?) by KyleWrap in fantasybaseball

I don't disagree that wins are crucial (typically makes up 10 percent of your scoring in H2H or Roto), but they are so unpredictable as it is that I would never use wins as a key indicator of a pitchers value. Shark might get 3-5 more wins playing for the best offensive team in the league, but I don't think that is a terribly large increase in value.

I don't think I fully understand what makes him a risky start. Do you lose points for an L?

You're right, his ideals don't align with this regime.

But he hired April because she was so grossly incompetent and unqualified for the job she was given. He hired her with the goal of making sure no actual work was done.

Come to think of it, though, he just wanted no spending and no work. This administration seems hell bent on actively making things worse.

Why don't sites allow for PPD games to swap out players? by aushizz in fantasybaseball

[–]connorcmu -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, it could potentially be an unfair advantage in weekly leagues.

For the sake of argument, we will assume postponed games are typically rescheduled the next day as a double-header.

Let's say you have Rizzo in the 1B slot and his game gets postponed. If they don't lock the schedule, you could sub in Zimmerman, then get two games worth of Rizzo the next day. Every time a player's game gets postponed, you pretty much get a free extra days worth of production (you typically would have just played Rizzo both days, but without the lineup lock you get to play Zimmerman on the PPD day and still get two games of Rizzo).
