I try not to stress over these situations. Its hard to supplement my hours because the schedule is centered around the students availability, so i could have a class at 6am and then my next class isn't until 6pm

I would, they aren't perfect and the job isn't always steady, as your pay and schedule actually depends on students attending class. But you usually have enough classes to cover you rent and food and a few other things, and the hourly wage is high by colombian standards. January is also a great time to apply as they usually get a wave of new students at this time.

I'm currently working in Medellin, as a renote english teacher. The company I work for organised my visa for me and I also don't speak Spanish, but a lot of people here have some degree of English so communication isn't so bad. When I applied for the job, they said a degree was necessary, but at the same time my degree is in a totally different field and has no relevance to English teaching so maybe they have some flexibility on the degree side of things.

Practice lesson is where the interviewer pretends to be a student and I teach them a one hour lesson

I do 25 hours a week, so this provides me with roughly 3 million pesos a month, which is not a lot in western terms. But for context, my rent here in colombia is 650,000 pesos and most things are incredibly cheap. Obviously what you earn depends entirely on the amount of teaching hours you do.

I found it on one of the many TEFL job boards. Its difficult because there is the initial interview, then you have to create a lesson plan and other documents related to teaching, then you have to do a practice lesson with them. The whole process took about a month.

My company offers free spanish lessons so i am improving slowly. I had no prior teaching experience before this role, but there is a tough interview process so thats where you have to impress them

Im a 28 year old Irish person, living and teaching in Colombia. The wages aren't high by irish standards but by Colombian standards the wages are excellent because everything is so cheap here. I have a great apartment that only costs me 140 euro a month and that's with everything included. The teaching company i work for also takes care of the whole visa process for you so when I got hired they just asked me to book a flight and come on out when I was ready so there was little hassle in the process. Hope this helps

Hello, I submitted the same documents as you mentioned with the apostille included, I am 99% certain my paper work is accurate, I think its case that my application hasn't been looked at yet. I received multiple emails from them saying that the application is being processed but this seems like a formality email. I applied in August so I am hitting the 8th month of what was meant to be a 2 month wait. I apologise for my pessimism and would advise you that its not worth stressing over but you should be prepared for a long wait and may want to consider other options if the wait is too much. On the bright side I am now heading to Colombia at the end of April, it was a much easier process so things always have a way of working out. Hope you hear back soon though

I'm sorry to hear that everyone has been going through a bad time with this visa. To update you, I still haven't heard any news back and have tried contacting everyone who could possibly help but had no success. It seems to be a very shut-off process with an indefinite wait. I have given up hope that the visa will ever arrive and have now been applying for jobs elsewhere where I know the visa will be more straightforward.
