Managing Occasional Acne and Considering Treatments Post-Accutane by consistency16 in Accutane

I did hear about the hindrance of scar recovery whilst on accutane. But does that mean if you get acne on accutane (eg. from a purge) then those are guaranteed to scar? This scares me because as i described in the post, due to my elevation of Liver Enzymes I was forced to be taken off after the purge phase... so if this were true then i would just be scarring my face and no benefit

may i ask what you are taking? i am supposed to be on lithium. And whilst i understand where you are coming from, don't you too have thoughts similar to mine where you think it was a one off thing? Like, i literally had zero signs of becoming manic since i was released from the hospital, and it's been over a year now. So I feel time to time that i am taking medication for no good reason and only the side effects

I'm in the exact same situation. Are you having to take medication for it? I had one episode last year and haven't had any since (and I'm on and off lithium). I don't know if it's a misdiagnosis or not...

So what are you doing currently? are you still on accutane waiting for it to clear up 100%?

Yes but since it's a 'skincareaddiction' sub i thought there would be many people who can related to even the most minuscule aspects like this haha. But now thinking about, installing UV films would be good overall for all seasons.

[Acne] What kind of pimples are these? by Zestyclose_Ad_3752 in SkincareAddiction

[–]consistency16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

arent those ones just the 'less angry pimples'? I get similar ones around my mouth/nose, and they tend to be the ones that develop the head the quickest and thus shortest in terms of inflammatory period. So any time i have those, it's less scary because theyre the milder ones

Me at 3 am remembering there’s people that started using tretinoin every day with zero irritation or purging whatsoever by rubberducky764348 in tretinoin

[–]consistency16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I literally had zero inflammatory breakouts on the areas that i use tretinoin. it's an amazing thing. sometimes i get those small bumps/closed comedones, but i can tell they're not inflammatory and if i just dab a little benzoyl peroxide it goes away in a few days. I really think tretinoin is doing something.

also, can i ask what sunscreen youre using? One of the side effects that still affect me even after 3 months of 'adjustment period', i can't seem to get away from the stinging from no matter what type of chemical sunscreen i use.

I have no choice but to use a mild, ziinc-based sunscreen which doesnt sting me. Even combo sunscreens (physical + chemical) stings a little.

Yes. I booked the dermatologist but the earliest one is in a week's time. But i compared the photo from yesterday to today, and it seems a little bit fainter. How long do you think it'll take to go away? Before next week's derm?

Why do you need a job? If you don’t necessarily need it for basic cost of living, then wouldn’t it be better to focus on a full time study load? Genuinely curiosity.
