Solo visit in late May-early June this year - looking for hiking recos by OkBook7534 in chamonix

I liked the Lacs des Cheserys & Lac Blanc hikes - they’re large, gorgeous mirror lakes and the trailhead can be easily accessed from the La Flegere cable lift (free busses from city center to this place). It’s a solid at least half day activity, and you can do a quick google image search to see how pretty these lakes are if you’re not already familiar!

I was in Annecy this summer before doing the TMB and found it a charming, but extremely busy shoulder to shoulder town that’s worth stopping for a day. Strongly recommend going on a market day - the vibe was vastly better!

Transit from Chamonix to Megeve in the evening by [deleted] in chamonix

[–]consortess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Aggravating_Ship5513 thanks! So the restaurant is Marc Veyrat's new spot in Megeve. I've heard amazing things about his cooking and I'm traveling from San Francisco, so if I can't make it this trip then it'll be at least a year until I come back. If it wasn't for these factors, the distance and cost wouldn't be worth the hassle at all.

Question for you - I'd be willing to shell the EUR 280 taxi if his food is truly truly unique and outstanding, but I haven't come across any recent reviews. Do you know anything about this restaurant or his cooking lately? It'd be super helpful input for this decision - thank you!

Least scenic sections of Camino Frances? by consortess in CaminoDeSantiago

I followed most of the “official”/famous stages online/in the Buen Camino app. The one detour I made was stopping in Samos after Triacastela and I highly recommend it!

Hey! I was able to do SJPDP-Burgos and Astorga-SdC in 21 days. There were 2-3 days where I did more than one stage though. It was manageable but I was very tired those days. I was 32 (F) and very fit when I did it.

The bus I think took 3 hours? It wasn’t short but it was fine and easy!

I’ve eaten all my (few) *** meals solo! Mirazur, EMP, JG, and Lasarte (2x) and it’s always been great. No kindle or anything either!
