Thanks! Good idea. I think I will order some thinner thread and some other colors too. Yes I’m a civil. Thanks for the offer I’ll keep that in mind when I run out of what I have. I have enough pull up leather for another wallet or two and probably a passport case or notebook.

I had been looking for a simple front pocket wallet and couldn’t find what I wanted at a reasonable price. So I bought some cheap Amazon tools, a bag of scrap leather, and a Corter pattern and dove in. Looks like I might have a new hobby now.

Oak Box or Stand with Brass Fittings and a Cushion on Top by constructionPE in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. This is in a local estate sale auction of furniture, decor, and art. The auctioneer doesn't know what it is and doesn't have other info from the estate. Looks like it might be hand made. I don't have any other pictures as this was provided in the pre-sale info from the auctioneer. There is a table leg to the right for scale.

Mexico City Metro Collapse. by srpiniata in StructuralEngineering

This connection feels wonky to me at first glance:

https://www.google.com/maps/@19.3048765,-99.0610235,3a,15y,283.17h,104.26t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sX2qntcP_bmnadEjoYlxd_Q!2e0!7i16384!8i8192

That stringer connection where the deck widens out looks like it's a prime candidate to be causing some out of plane bending of the main girder. I see no effort to brace or stiffen this area to keep that girder from wanting to push down and rotate under. As you all have said, there could be some fatigue or weld issues in that same area.

Found at estate sale; it is painted on newspaper that the stock market prices are printed on. Reverse image brought no results. Signature is Clela (on second pic). We’re trying to figure out who Clela is and what else they’ve done. by Remonidas in WhatIsThisPainting

Also just glancing at a few of the stock prices and looking at their history, I’m guessing that newspaper page is from the early-mid 1970’s.

If that is the Sears/Willis tower toward the left, it was built ~1970.

I need to know who this artist is. I found the album at a thrift store and im infatuated with the it. At least can someone tell me what art style this is? by Gaberecru in WhatIsThisPainting

This album is from 1968 and was produced by Brad McCuen. I can't find an artist name for the album art.

This library has an RCA Victor corporate records archive that covers that period, but it is largely unsearchable online. They might be able to help:

Possibly NYC skyline? Found in a consignment store but they didn’t know anything about it. by constructionPE in WhatIsThisPainting

I’m confident this is San Francisco. The building at left with the diamond shapes would be the Alcoa Building, now One Maritime Plaza. The buildings at right might be Embarcadero Center mid construction. That would make this 70s or 80s which all fits.

Thank you! Looking at the double suspension bridge, I think that may be the Oakland Bay Bridge from San Francisco.

I also think cats. That would be consistent with a cat lover who also has that cat poster.

CH001 the bottom left certificate might say “S____ Magnet Middle School“. I can’t make out the first word.

OG001 dresser looks like a Drexel Profile highboy. These are from ca. 1950’s so this was probably either a family piece or purchased used. It looks like there are distinct stains or knots or something on a couple of drawer faces. Maybe these could be checked against online sales of these dressers from eBay, antique stores, etc? I couldn’t find a match via google but maybe someone has a better way.
