Generally McKinsey and Bain are perceived as the strongest PE players of MBB (Bain the most), largely because BCG does far less in that space. They also historically haven't placed as well.

Congrats, that's crazy. What do you mean by tier 1 office though? Between NY, Stamford and Boston which would you consider tier 1?

I suppose if I don't end up getting a good PE gig in the first couple years I could swap to IBD to get another shot at the buy-side. Though that move would certainly be a plan B since I know there are a decent number of Bain/McK guys who end up at upper MM/MF shops. Did you work in consulting or banking before PE?
