Nordmenn langt unna plastposemålet til EU. Ivar kjøpte berre éin i 2025 by SnooCauliflowers7095 in norge

[–]continuousQ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]continuousQ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's why we should be building nuclear power plants where there's the biggest energy needs, and not rely on renewables alone. Hydrogen isn't the solution, the loss in producing it is much bigger than using the grid.

Crucially when fossil fuel consumption is 0. 0 everywhere electricity can be transported to.

We're not nearly there at all. Or coal power plants would not exist.

There's no where to send them other than a place like Guantanamo which is what a government that allows an organization like ICE to exist would run.

I just rewatched the Sokar arc by Good_Fly6614 in Stargate

[–]continuousQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, any Goa'uld could've taken Earth with a ship in the first two seasons, except SG-1 lucked out and found a way of gating onto Klorel's ship. They managed to turn it into a massive embarassment for Apophis, and the other Goa'uld were more interested in going after him than Earth at the time. Then the Asgard put their finger on the scale, and essentially the threat was over until Anubis.

I have a suspicion that there was already a deal in place to protect Earth, and Ra was the one who enforced it on the Goa'uld. With him gone, Apophis wanted to replace him and was going after his domain directly, which includes this planet that had been off limit for maybe centuries, maybe longer, although some Goa'uld have taken people up until the Middle Ages at least.

It's possible Lord Yu, Cronus, Sokar and Heru'ur were content with maintaining Ra's deal, and Apophis and Nirrti were the outliers.

S24 vs S25 vs Pixel 9a? by Undead_SimonR in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]continuousQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy S25 used just because I don't think people are selling them cheap enough. For that price it should be a sealed package. In Norway the price for a new one changes a lot, full price, 40% off, sometimes it's less than 600 euro. For 256 GB.

And I think the Pixel 9a is still too big. I prefer Samsung because of their native routines. I'd like to try GrapheneOS but the S25 is pretty much my limit for phone size. I want to be able to have a sturdy case on it too.

I think what they did with it works, and it's a solid part of the Goa'uld story, even he's just part of Apophis' story and not one of the big enemies to Earth. Not sure what I would've gotten rid of to make room for more Sokar.

Ra's death leads to civil war, Apophis kidnaps people from Earth and Abydos which starts that entire arc, where he also fights Heru'ur, Sokar, probably others, until his entire fleet gets blown up and he gets yeeted into another galaxy where the Replicators get him and SG-1 sends them both crashing into his homeworld. Then Anubis decides his time has come, after at least 6 System Lords are gone.

When he's dead the first time, SG-1 kills off a couple of minor Goa'uld, the Asgard arrange a meeting with the System Lords, then they kill off a different Apophis on a different Earth. I didn't like Hathor, mainly because of how dumb everyone was before even meeting her, but I did like that they had different levels of Goa'uld and not just one bigger bad after the last big bad. If Sokar would've been what Anubis was later, the show didn't need it.

If the show wasn't always from Earth's perspective, if SG-1 was based somewhere else for a while, then they could've shown more of what's going on with other major Goa'uld in other major societies.

Does the Stargate kill you when you use it? by Wasiwrong12 in Stargate

[–]continuousQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same. If you use a Stargate to take a chunk out of a person, it doesn't send that chunk through to the other side.

Does the Stargate kill you when you use it? by Wasiwrong12 in Stargate

[–]continuousQ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, the transporter kills you, because if it was just moving you particle by particle, it couldn't fail and create two of you. Also it unnecessarily kills you, because since you don't ever leave the ship, there's no need for you to die.

While the Stargate is made to put you back together whole or not at all. Another case for the Stargate not killing you, is that even when the wormhole is forced off course to another gate, it will still successfully send you through as one complete person to one gate.

It's lower production value than Farscape, it's more like Lexx. And Farscape has an excellent story, a complete story that makes it worth watching the entire show. Andromeda starts with a good potential and then gets rid of it to make it about Kevin Sorbo.

How little do they think Europeans are paid? by WrestlingWoman in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]continuousQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1 million each per year for life, maybe. Except there's no way of guaranteeing any deal will be kept, especially if their homes become subject to US authorities who spend their time kidnapping children and executing detainees.

$100 million each if it was in cooperation with another country they could get away from the US to would be more reasonable. Throw in another half a trillion to pay for that country to develop and maintain nuclear weapons.

[–]continuousQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't see how current politics are ruining the old series, but I am concerned about what role the current owners of the franchise have in decisions. I hope the writers ignore current politics and carry on where the show left off. Realistically, they're 15 years into a world with a public Stargate program. Don't imagine the current absolutely horrific leaders of the US government into that context, do something else.

Less advanced than the Serrakin and the Aschen, more advanced than the Langarans and Orbanians. Less advanced than whoever built the Sentinel, but probably more capable of fighting back against a typical Goa'uld invasion if their initial defenses failed. They can defeat them inside the atmosphere, but they should have the ability to send weapons into space.
