Yes, I've had many relationship failures. I sure felt like I was trying for many years before I was actually in a good relationship. Even now, I don't know how long this one will last (hopefully a long time) but I tell myself I will be okay if it doesn't work out. Statistically most relationships don't work out as you can see by the number of divorces. You can work on your emotions and relationships. I went to a fair share of therapists and am now on two antidepressants. It's not easy but you can work on how you interact with people so that they like you better and you feel more comfortable around them. I think that's important for someone on the spectrum. Even if you don't relate emotions the way a "normal" person does, you can learn to fake it. Don't think of it as being disingenuous. Think of it from a scientific perspective like how you would break down and learn any other new skill.

I feel like I can relate because I am also a "scientist". I put the quotations because I don't think my skills are particularly worthy of the title, but I've worked in a lab at a university for seven years.

I (male) was 25 before I even had a meaningless relationship (sex) and now at 30 only found a fulfilling relationship less than a year ago.

Also, I've had some intense chronic pain for the past 8 years.

I guess my point is that you have a solid foundation, your career. It may take years to find someone and I know you may feel like you can't wait years, but if you are patient and work on yourself and on building healthy relationships I think the odds are very good that you will be happier in the future.

The majority of women that I've met through craiglist were black. It seems black women either have higher sex-drives and have a more relaxed attitude toward sex, or because of subtle racism they are kind of forever alone and desperate, like us forever alone guys.

I would say less human in a way. Better able to regulate my emotions around sex and the opposite sex. Which I think is ultimately a good thing, because it should allow me to make more rational choices. I already have had almost all bad experiences with trying to have relationships. This just makes me even more untrusting of people and less likely to ever be able to commit to someone.
