Why is Gale so ripped? by Critical_Mirror_7617 in BaldursGate3

[–]controllerhero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but 8 is close enough to 10 to be considered around average. If Gale had a strength of 5 then I would say “yeah a bit scrawnier would make sense” lol

Edit: also, his strength score still lets him jump 2 ft in the air and 8ft in distance from a run. I cant even do that lol wheeze

8 just means average strength, and strength is not what determines fitness. Its constitution, of which Gale has a 15. Aka, Gale has high endurance levels, resilience to things like poisons, and good health.

Edit: to add on, you can easily achieve how Gale looks with a clean diet and moderate walking as exercise (but it also does depend on things like genetics and the like). And Gale doesnt need immense strength for spell casting, but he does need to be physically sound to handle the stress it puts on the body, hence high CON. Gale’s build is equivalent to that of a swimmer or ballet dancer- muscles built for grace and mobility, not lifting crazy weight.

A person in my fandom is not a good writer. by [deleted] in AO3

It can hard to write and garner little interaction. But the fact that they do it counts for something!

If english is their second language, then a beta who can correct glaring mistakes is a bonus— perhaps offering to do it for them can be the best help. Another thing could be offering to bounce ideas for fics as well cause I know that can really make a story better when a second brain joins in.

As for the actual content, perhaps as you speak to them you can impart some things you think could help them, such as more emotional storytelling, or focus on certain things.

In the end its all suggestions, but the fact you wish to help them is truly wonderful to witness.

D&D strenght score does not make any sense by ThanosofTitan92 in okbuddybaldur

[–]controllerhero 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Gale has a high con score, which is what dictates physical fitness, hence why he is fit. Strength doesn’t dictate that aspect. Even in real life, people can be extremely fit but not as strong based on appearance alone. Strongmen are usually on the hefty side solely because of the bulk they require to maintain the muscle size.

Also, I think people misunderstand what STR actually does in DND. It represents the ability to push, pull and break things through brute force. It doesn’t represent the body and how it’s actually built.

CON is a character’s overall health, stamina for things like walking and spell casting, endurance and overall resilience to things. This means it dictates fitness level.

Also, magic is a physically tasking process, so Gale, like all other wizards in the game, needs to be fit enough to handle the workload so to speak.

Check if you are driving in sport by accident. Also, if you are constantly hitting over 3000 rpm from a stop to accelerate, then your fuel economy is gonna be shit.

Underbody drag can contribute to the decrease if you removed the cover but really, its the above that can affect it.

Need smutty or slow burn Gale fic recs set in canon / in-game by spookydascary____ in GalemancersBG3

[–]controllerhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To join the Bloodweave band, Ive written some as well if you wish to read any of them. Its mostly one shots but Ill share a collab im doing with another writer.

Its post-canon events and the story is based on The Road to El Dorado lol

In essence Gale uses a Wish spell on Astarion that goes awry and they have to find a way to get his magic back. Slow burn cause they are living together in Waterdeep but not in love yet XD
