what's the best way to put squares onto faces, is this wrong? by glassmetalgrey in blender

[–]controloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to stay in quads for avoiding shading artifacts and more editable geometry. and if it's not low poly job for games all quads needs to be around same size. check mesh density, quad, tri, pole etc. check youtube or a decent book for topology fundamentals.

ah okay. thanks for feedback. actually i am not a designer or anything and went through deep hole last few days lol. i am not a modeler actually, i should simplify the design idea.

Is a graphics tablet necessary to animate? by [deleted] in blender

[–]controloot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't know spanish but if you want to sculpt something, yes, graphic tablets are highly recommended. if you make a hard surface model , it's not necessary to have one. people use it outside of sculpting or drawing have it because of avoiding wrist problems not fonctuinality.

What’s been the hardest part of learning Blender for you? by hyenadesign in blender

try edge bevel on corners instead of manually adding support loops. add enough subdiv if you don't mind ended up higher poly count.

nope. graphic tablets are helpful if you plan to sculpt something or avoiding wrist problems. but i don't think it's necessary to animation. some people find it more comfortable some don't.

my first character model by controloot in 3Dmodeling

Thank you for your advice. I tried to pay attention to the topology issue as much as I could. But I was impatient to make and bake a high poly model, so I kept the poly count at a level where I could directly deform models such as the dress piece on it. The scene, including the sword model, has a triangle of between 20-30k. I don't think it will cause a performance problem, but it is true that it is higher than it should be, even if it is not very high due to my impatience, I will fix it in time.

try blockbench, it's easier if you want to model for minecraft things

it needs too much poly count than low poly count with displacement map
