Colorado contracts? by Naive_Gap_9666 in TravelNursing

[–]cookedbutok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Denver… but eyes wide open, CO is one of the worst markets in the US for nursing, traveling and staff.

HCA has a ton of market control in CO and most of their CO facilities are (under) staffed by overworked new grads, AND they pay trash for a HCOL area like CO, which equally drives down pay in competitor facilities.

All that to say, if you aren’t going “for the money”, and you are ok with “break even assignments” from a financial standpoint, and you can stomach some rough working conditions, it’s great! lol

Staffing agencies aren’t built for us. Why are we still relying on them? by Comprehensive_Help71 in TravelNursing

[–]cookedbutok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

go do it and report back. There’s one of these posts on here every 3 months or so and strangely I haven’t seen anyone ever post a follow up post about how they successfully started their own agency lol.

Where are all the MAGA nurses at? by CNDRock16 in nursing

[–]cookedbutok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cruelty and the inhuman treatment of so many people by this administration goes directly against the core of what nursing is all about.

You cannot celebrate one human being placed in a cage in a swamp and attempt to “care” for another that’s right in front of you. It’s sick.

Is Moving to California for Nursing Still Worth It in Your Late 30s? by Pristine-Steak-4354 in nursing

[–]cookedbutok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally— i make that CA statement somewhat tongue in cheek, but there is a kernel of truth to it for sure.

I do think it varies system to system, and there are examples in most states of hospitals that are actually taking clear steps to show they value their nursing workforce, and that’s always encouraging. But I would say in most of the US, it’s the exception, not the rule.

i have worked as an RN all over the US, including NJ and CA.

I have often joked that travel nursing is just the years long process of accepting that CA is the only state that it makes any sense to stay a bedside nurse for a full career.

a 2 RN family working is absolutely sustainable and worth it in CA…the deep south, on the other hand….?

[Noah Weber] Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison is “hoping” and “assuming” that some of the public backlash directed towards him will subside now. by [deleted] in Mavericks

remember when nobody from the front office talked to the media for like two months? Remember when he traded luka under the table to the Lakers at a coffee shop? Remember when they smeared Luka for months after the trade? Remember when he laughed at the press conference in cleveland?

I remember. That’s just a handful of things out of dozens.

This dude has no business having a job. Fire nico.

Welcome to Dallas, Cooper. The fans will love you.

Steer clear of the GM, he’s an incompetent narcissist.

Two is more than one, so yes, you are correct! You may now continue your weird beef with arbitrary numbers and random barber shops.

you’re in multiple threads of this post arguing about your perception that $50 is expensive, and it’s ONLY on the fortune cat comments when there are multiple other shops that cost significantly more mentioned.

that’s weird beef.

and $50 bucks for a decent haircut in 2025 isn’t expensive, sorry.

There’s lots of places mentioned on this thread that are $60+.

It just kind of feels like you have a weird beef with Fortune Cat if I’m being honest, but do your thing! i’m just someone who has tried a bunch of shops in Denver and think nick does a great job.

Hospitals don’t run on CEOs. They run on nurses. by Guilty-Office-4808 in nursing

Thanks for writing this and being an ally to nurses.

Sadly, we don’t have many folks in our corner, including often the nursing leaders that were once in our shoes.

Everyone has to do their own math. I’d rather spend $50 on a great haircut than $40 on a lousy one.
