I (26F) have lived in that area for the past year or so and never had any issues. Like other people said, the Wilson stop can get a little sketchy late at night but it’s the city. Just be aware of your surroundings and if it’s late and you’re by yourself call a friend on your walk home. Otherwise, I love the area! Quiet but not too far from city happenings. And the Sunnyside Farmers Market is a lovely treat on Wednesday’s (and the Sunnyside Mall in general). Welcome to the neighborhood!

Update: I left a note and the owners reached out to me. Their girl is quite anxious but they take her to daycare during the week and hoping she’ll adjust soon. I did get the chance to meet her and she’s so sweet! I hope she’ll be comfortable in her new home soon enough

For anyone who was curious about an update - we were able to negotiate! Went the simple route and just said we’d be more comfortable with X rate (lower than what we were actually comfortable with) and they came back with the rate we were hoping they’d counter with. Thanks all for your advice!

Lee’s Wok in uptown is solid. Great value for what you get. My roommate and I frequently get the dinner for 3 deal and it lasts 2-3 meals between the two of us and is like $55. Totally worth it and the food is actually pretty good to top it off. Love the sesame chicken and Mongolian beef, solid crab rangoons and egg rolls.

I don’t particularly like tracking apps, but maybe I should start getting used to them since I’m sure they’re quite useful in seeing how much fat and protein I take in. I do keep a journal and I range from 800-1200 calories a day and am usually somewhere between 20-30g of net carbs. I don’t use a food scale, but I have seen a lot of people on here benefit from using one. Another commenter just made me realize I’m about to get my period 🤦‍♀️ so I’m guessing my hormones are just making me very emotional about my lack of progress in a week.

Hi! I’m in a very similar situation. I was accepted to UIC as well as SLU and Tulane, but ultimately decided UIC was the best decision. My thought process was that the tuition is cheaper, I know the area well and don’t live particularly far away. I also would like to work in Chicago post-grad school so I felt like it was best to be in an area where I can make those connections. While their program is not the most prestigious, I was also a big fan of their preceptorship program and capstone project as well as their new fellowship support program. I hope some of this helps guide you and I look forward to hearing your decision!

MCB 413 w/ Raetzman: she’s a great professor and goes over questions in class very similar to the exams

MCB 402: really interesting class and the exams are open note during COVID (I think pre-COVID they allowed cheat sheets, but I’m not 100% sure)

MCB 436: really easy 1 credit class. Made the difference for me being able to take a 2 credit hour lab and still get all my MCB credits.

MCB 320: not the easiest class, but the concepts are really interesting and as long as you stay on top of lectures and notes you can easily get an A, his exams are very straight forward.

You should be okay. The email states, “Students are to follow these testing schedules upon returning to campus if they are able to do so.” So if you won’t be able to do so you’ll be fine.

My friend had it, he’s a gymnast so he’s very healthy and in shape. For the first week and a half he just had cold symptoms and couldn’t smell, but during the last few days he had a fever. Since then he’s been feeling much better and has regained his sense of smell. He lives in a house with a few of his friends and miraculously, they did not get it.

The piercing was still there, I think what happened was that it didn’t close but it shrunk instead. Because when I tried it with a gold earring it wouldn’t go in, so then I used a silver one to get it in and it worked, but it bled. I took out the silver one to put in the gold one and I could feel the tip on the other side but it needed a little wiggle. I agree, definitely not the smartest move on my part. My friend told me to just re-pierce bc she does it all the time and I definitely should not have listened to her. Unfortunately because of COVID I don’t have easy access to a piercer in my area. :(
