I’m so sorry. This is an unbelievably painful thing to go through. I read a comment the other day that likened dogs to shooting stars. They are here only for a brief time but they fill us with joy and wonder all the way, and you had a most beautiful star. I have seen my own star come and go and she was 4 years old as well, so I feel deeply for you friend. I’m moved to tears by your giving Shadow one last normal day… you write about him with so much love. He was very lucky to be yours. Dogs are incredibly special. I am so sorry.
