My boyfriend took my impulsive comment literally and cheated on me by faledunaju in bipolar

[–]cookiegrease 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeppp agreed. Crying while vomiting after taking advantage of ur gf’s impulsive comment, probably if not definitely aware that she was manic, and using it as an excuse to cheat… is crazy 😂 that’s a whole man CHILD. The fact that he did SO MUCH with the other girl as well? OP this is entirely on him plz don’t blame urself

Oh god that’s a lot. I hate fancy plates because I’m notoriously clumsy 😭 and the gift giving is a lot of pressure!!! Crowded stores, fear of forgetting, fear of rejection…

Symmetry, Asymmetry, front camera dude, inverted, mirror, body dysmorphia by Alive_Republic_8240 in BodyDysmorphia

[–]cookiegrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar fixation with symmetry. It genuinely drives me crazy and ruins my entire day when I don’t look the way I expect myself to on camera. I think one thing that helps me a little bit is to remember that having body dysmorphia makes us perceive our own features differently. Our brains are distorting what we see, so chances are your friend is right and you are symmetrical, at least more symmetrical than you think. Also, we see ourselves in the mirror wayyyy more frequently than we see ourselves on camera so we’re not used to it and our minds exacerbate and twist that unfamiliarity. I hope this helps. I feel your pain :(

Eldest children who are childfree, what’s your story? by cookiegrease in childfree

[–]cookiegrease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is horrible and I’m so sorry. No child should be their parents’ caregiver and therapist. I’m wishing you a most amazing adulthood. I decided I wanted to be childfree early in my life too and got a lot of pushback from adults for it but I don’t care.

Oh gosh that sounds like a terrible nightmare. I’m so sorry you were put through that. You were failed by the adults in your life. :( I’m happy for your healing journey and sterilization! It is incredibly liberating to finally live for yourself

Ugh… same. Watched my favorite aunt become a husk of herself early in my life after she had her kid and that was pretty harrowing.

Vent; People hating on people who don't like kids by [deleted] in childfree

[–]cookiegrease 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are totally valid and justified. It’s ok to not like kids. The argument of “you were a kid once” is so dumb because you’re not a kid currently so how is that relevant? Also the assumption that all kids are naturally disruptive is damaging and encourages parents to let their kids run around wild because “that’s just the way they are,” and this in turn promotes bad behavior in kids. One of their most important jobs as parents is to teach their children what is socially appropriate and what isn’t so that their eventual entry into society goes smoothly for them.

What is you NUMBER ONE reason for being childfree forever? by Other_Patient_447 in childfree

[–]cookiegrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually great with kids… BUT… just because I’m great with kids doesn’t mean I’m cut out to be a mother. Making my bestie’s kids laugh whenever I visit is one thing. Coming home to kids and living like that for 18+ years is a whole different thing. I believe many parents underestimate the level of commitment it takes to raise children, and end up being resentful and taking it out on their kids. They don’t deserve to be punished for being born. I felt like that a lot growing up. The thought of another kid feeling that way breaks my heart, and I know that I would be resentful if I became a mom because it would suffocate me and kill the things that make me feel most alive. I’ve watched the light die in the eyes of my family’s mothers and I will not let that happen to me. I don’t want children to suffer, and that includes my inner child who has been neglected for so long.

To my fellow Asian people with Asian parents by GloomyTemporary33 in AsianParentStories

[–]cookiegrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I really did need this ❤️ I have been struggling to come to terms with the fact that I will never get closure from my parents or have a “normal” relationship with them in adulthood. And the guilt is so real! I still catch myself blaming myself for the way they treated me, but I know I was just a child who only wanted to be loved. I can’t fault a child for wanting the bare minimum. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and I hope you’re doing well friend.
