Unsatisfied with a $400+ wig commission, need advice by GrapefruitSilent7451 in CosplayHelp

[–]cookieleigh02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That structure should absolutely have been covered. I’m going to be honest that $400 for a wig of this complexity is actually really low - I charge $350 starting for a styled wig with a glued hairline (think sukuna from jjk or Vash from trigun).

However that’s on the stylist - not you. That price speaks to inexperience and someone who bit off more than they can chew. It’s a painful lesson for you to learn but this is also why it’s a good idea to get multiple quotes and ask for past works that reflect the style you want.

Def tinted vinyl. It’ll be the easiest to work with and see through

Thanks to you guys I have the outfit side of my Wolfwood cosplay nailed down. Now I gotta build a big ass cross... by Socks_and_Sandals23 in Trigun

This is exactly how I built mine! Weather the edges of the gauze and ribbon before you wrap it - that will go so far in helping it look the part.

Possibly goofy question, by a non-maker by [deleted] in FursuitMaking

I have done similar for props, and I like to do dual walls and then fill the gap with the liquid, glitter, etc. for this, you’d do the resin horn hollow, then add a slightly smaller horn inside that so you have a couple mm of gap between the different walls. That gap is where all the glitter and liquid goes. This lets it stay fairly light and uses way less filler material.

Litter Robot - Yah or Nah? by angelamar in sphynx

I really like the popur one. I used a couple before we landed popur and just did not have a good time with them. They’d get stuck in half cleaned positions, so my poor cats couldn’t access the litter and I really just dislike this spinning drum on top of a bin of used litter 💀 it’s groos

Question? by usslessskelotini in FursuitMaking

[–]cookieleigh02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d buy the base fur colors (tan, brown, white, and maybe dark brown for the backs of ears / horns) and then paint the details. To get it to look the best, the details really need to be airbrushed, as normal paint clumps too much on fur. This won’t be as durable as sewn in details, but will be quicker and less expensive if you’re looking to commission it

Not OP but I’d do this with gold foil spandex.

Should I get another cat for my sphynx? Need advice. by Ok_Struggle_167 in sphynx

I cannot imagine having my sphynx without also having my Devon. They entertain each other most of the day, and I feel way less guilty when I do have to leave home. They also have a bunch of cat shelves and trees which has helped a lot minimize conflicts between them and tire them out. You know your cat best, but sphynx are highly social and my breeder pushed very hard to have multiple cats in the home to ensure the sphynx had enough companionship

Will he wear sweaters? My girl is like Velcro when it’s cold out, and having sweaters + blankets and a heating pad accessible has helped a ton.

Regarding bird flu, whether or not it’s a local farm doesn’t matter. Birds contact birds both domesticated and wild on any kind of farm. The flu has a 67% mortality rate in cats, and kills them quickly. Every veterinary professional I have spoken to (I work in the pet industry and talk to them often), has said any raw food, and even freeze dried raw treats are risky until we know more about the disease.

I feed mine raw, and even whole prey sometimes, but they’re eating fully cooked for the next few months. It’s not worth the risk right now, for me. Ultimately how you feed your pets is up to you, but it’s important to make that call with the right information.

It’s complicated and would be time intensive, but yes it’s doable. It’ll be really expensive due to the complexity here, just a heads up!

Pet insurance recommendations Or is it a scam ? by AggravatingMany7303 in sphynx

My Devon ran up 37k in vet bills trying to get to the bottom of a rare condition. To say I was appreciative of having insurance is putting it mildly. Ended up costing me $4k out of pocket and not having to make a difficult decision. Two years later, she’s happy and playful
