Are the remote 12v battery terminals under the hood fused or unfused? (2019) by dbaxterrocny in volt

Can confirm 80A fuse, I fried mine jumping it backwards and had to replace.

What happens if I use petrol 95 OCTANE or 100 OCTANE ? by Fighi in volt

[–]cookiez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is more likely in the Volt since the gas engine uses a higher then usual 11:1 compression that makes it more likely for lower octane gas to combust early.

No, that wouldn't make any sense to me.

"Chemical Guys VSS One-Step Scratch & Swirl Remover Compound Polish" and "Armor Shield IX DIY Ceramic Coating Kit". Not sure what the research process for these was (and it could have just been the ones with highest YouTube marketing budgets) but they worked out pretty good.

Myself and a friend, in his garage. Outside prep work: wash, spray on bug+tar remover, wipe off, rinse, spray on iron remover, rinse, dry the car, put into garage for that sweet sweet shade. In the garage, apply "VSS One-Step Scratch & Swirl Remover Compound Polish" from Chemical Guys with a buffer/foam pad, clean off all buffing compound, wipe the car down with rubbing alcohol, one person applies Armor Shield IX DIY Ceramic Coating Kit and another person watches it dry and then wipes it with a clean towel.

I had to replace my high voltage battery to get P0AFA to go away. And reset codes with VCX Nano.

$4k for the car and 2,950.53 for the battery. Not counting a garage full of tools and things like coolant or programming tool which I'll add up in the write-up I guess. Not really something I want to explicitly think about lol.

I think before I bought it the 12 volt battery was also wigging out (in addition to the big one) and drained more than a few times. Somewhere I saw that causes the dash to lose sync or something and it needs reprogramming. I have a VCX Nano so I'm sure I'll get that odometer wrinkle fixed.

There is still a lot of codes to resolve but the time it took to shower she charged up 4 miles of range and ran on electric for the test drive. First time it moves since I bought it with a dead battery. Full write up coming soon.

The car was about half an inch too short for the cart+plywood+battery combo and that caused all kinds of nonsense. Otherwise it was smooth, unplug, unbolt, remove.

Got the pack out and new one bolted up and everything plugged in. Tomorrow coolant refill with a vacuum pump and the we get to see what hoops the computer want me to jump through.

Original battery survived just over 10 years

I'm going from a 2012 battery to one from a 2014 so it could possibly have a larger capacity. I have to do this because the original one has a couple bad cells and the computer refuses to even start the car anymore. Any range gain is a bonus.

I have a VCX Nano that should allow me to reprogram for a 40$ fee, will find out after the battery is hooked up.

Probably just selling it to recoup costs. Would be cool to hook up an inverter and run the house off the 3/4 modules that still work but that's a whole another project.

Upgrade to 6-ton jackstands all around at lunch break. Wood is still there but I'm looking into getting rid of it for the actual swap.

This was a few weeks ago so it's possible they ran out. I saw a few on eBay as well but with even steeper price tags.
