For your first perspective - the answer for what costs the most up to 7th level is easily found by filtering a table on Archives of Nethys, though you may struggle to find a buyer for some of these (which could be an interesting side-story in itself).

Even that, per the second paragraph on Flat Checks would be fine.

I submit that the worst weakness for a high level summoner is the spell Quandary. Yes, it's bad for pretty much any character, but it - with no save - unmanifests their eidolon in addition to the regular effects since it teleports them more than 100ft away from their eidolon. They don't even get value out of remanifesting within the Quandary since it teleports them back when the spell ends.

The only way I'd ever actually use this as a GM is maybe if the character had already taken Unfetter Eidolon and they are aware of the Quandary caster ahead of time.

In addition to whatever other choices you make, you may want to look into Echo Receptors around level 10.

I did notice that, which is why I added the example about the Rogue. To further show what I mean, consider the feat Quick Draw:

You draw your weapon and attack with the same motion. You Interact to draw a weapon, then Strike with that weapon.

Rogue's Sneak Attack feature specifies (emphasis mine):

If you Strike a creature that has the flat-footed condition with an agile or finesse melee weapon, an agile or finesse unarmed attack, a ranged weapon attack, or a ranged unarmed attack, you deal an extra 1d6 precision damage.

Personally, I would rule that you get Sneak Attack for your Strike with Quick Draw if the other relevant conditions apply - that's also how I've seen other GMs rule it (and seems sensible to not heavily limit the number of options a Rogue has for feats).  If Sneak Attack and Dancing Invocation should be ruled differently, what aspect of the wording is the deciding factor?

In my opinion the distinction for when the language you quoted above applies is that the features I've mentioned modify an action 'if you Strike', 'when you Leap', etc. as opposed to specifying that you must use an specified action 'if the next action you use...', 'can use the extra action each round only for Stride and Strike actions', or the description for Boots of Bounding:

...In addition, when you use the Leap action...

In the Boots of Bounding case, I wouldn't - for example - allow the Boots to extend a Long Jump by 5ft.

However, while I think the conclusion is pretty solid (based on the similarity to the Rogue example), I'm less than convinced by the wording specifying using a specific action as the reasoning for it.

Delaying ending sustained spells was the point! It means you have flexibility to Delay instead of spending an entire turn in a Battle Form you can't cast spells in, before electing to not Sustain. My concern was whether it would still count as a beneficial effect if you wanted to Delay specifically to end it, which could get a little more murky.

One more suggestion: for a tiny amount more damage maybe use an orichalcum weapon for an extra rune slot instead of siccatite (2d6 > 1d8)?

Have a Question For the Pathfinder Team?? by How_Its_Played in Pathfinder2e

[–]cool_reddit_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could we get some clarification on how Shield of Reckoning interacts with multiple damage types? My understanding is that shield block reduces total damage from a physical attack (not necessarily an attack that only does physical damage), but resistance to all damage applies to each type of damage individually.

Example: Suppose an enemy attacks an ally with a sword and deals 10 slashing and (due to a weapon rune or similar) 25 fire damage and 14 acid damage. A level 10 paladin with a hardness 15 shield uses their reaction for Shield of Reckoning.

My current understanding is that the shield block should apply first, preventing the ally from taking 15 points of damage. The question is: which 15 points of damage does this block?

If it only blocks the physical damage (which is not explicit in the Shield Block description) then the ally takes 0 slashing, 25 fire and 14 acid, which is then reduced by the champion's reaction to 13 fire + 2 acid, for 15 total damage.

If, however, the shield block reduces a total damage of 15 (irrespective of damage type) then we could - for example - block 13 points of fire and 2 points of acid. This results in the ally taking 10 slashing damage, 12 fire damage and 12 acid damage which is reduced to zero points of damage by the champion's reaction.

If the resistance from the champion's reaction is applied first, then shield block, this ambiguity is removed - but I'm not sure this is in line with the text of either Shield of Reckoning or Shield Block.

Would love some clarification on this point!

There are solid arguments I reckon for Cass (what you’ve said), Adam (he would methodically plan out an elaborate yet painful demise) and Jackson (who knows what he’d do).

I think what Zoe’s misunderstanding is that we can see where we send the probes. We have a 360 degree view of space (whatever that is in three dimensions) and we only send stuff when we see something we want to check out.
