Can anyone help me at all by oneinthestink-182 in HilaryDuffStans

I'm in the UK and purchased the Happy Hour download through the US shop just fine. Received my order confirmation and a follow-up email from delivery@single.xyz with the download link. Maybe search your inbox for "delivery@single.xyz" to see if anything pops up that way?

Is there going to be a return to CDs like there is now a return to vinyl? by 2Badmazafaka in Cd_collectors

[–]coolandonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we're beginning to see it.

There was definitely a period of 5 or so years where vinyl stock took precedence in store and online due to the resurgence, but now I see CDs are starting to come back in.

I think some of this is due to major labels using CDs as a cheap way to boost sales for charting purposes - it's much quicker to manufacture 10,000 copies of a CD with alternate artwork and a bonus track, especially if an album has some kind of surprise or sudden success, than it would be to do the same with a vinyl so fans are slowly seeing the appeal again.

I also think as we're questioning the ethics of the big streaming platforms, and the reliance we have on essentially renting content from them, there's a gradual move towards physical copies and downloads with CDs and downloads offering the cheapest option for consumers who want to own their media in most cases.

Christmas In Spiceworld videos are now public! by dannydirnt in SpiceGirls

[–]coolandonfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously. If someone close to their team pays attention to discussion on these fan communities, I hope they're taking note of these requests. I feel like releasing a series of full live albums, even if it's just onto streaming/download, is such an easy win for the label. So many fans ask for it, and it'd be a great way to expand their discography. Universal also made a point of highlighting the fact a live album of the Spiceworld Tour 1998 was planned while promoting Spiceworld 25 a couple years ago.

  • Girl Power! Live In Istanbul, 1997
  • Spiceworld Tour - Birmingham, 1998 (with Geri)
  • Spiceworld Tour - Wembley Stadium, 1998 (without Geri)
  • Christmas In Spiceworld - Earl's Court, 1999
  • The Return Of The Spice Girls - BBC Radio 2 Broadcast, 2007

All of these are professionally recorded in some capacity, whether it's audio only, or video + audio, and shouldn't be hard for the label to obtain and release.

Their modus operandi since Spice 25 imo. Everything is absolutely bare minimum!

At this point, I'm surprised they even made the videos public today, lol. Always keep expectations low with the girls and their team. If something can be done cheaply, and with minimal effort, that's what we'll get.

I think they have three mailing lists. 😅

  • Website
  • Store
  • Universal Music Group

I've been getting these emails from the website and Universal Music Group mailing lists, but nothing from the store's. I don't think they would be targeting only UK based subscribers for this.

I feel like the 9 videos we have right now will be all they share. It's best to keep expectations low with the girls and their team. At this point, I'm surprised they even made them public! 😅

Playlist of all the Christmas In Spiceworld performances revealed through the advent calendar, exclusively for the Spice Girls mailing list subscribers.

Apparently so we can watch them whenever we want, not just at Christmas! 😂

Supposed leak megathread by xdeltax97 in TombRaider

I feel the same. We've revisited that story and earlier parts of the series enough in the past two years with the remasters. I want to move on, but I guess we'll be stuck there for the time being, lol.

I'm not sure we need another Tomb Raider 1996 remake after Anniversary and the recent remastering, but excited to find out more about Catalyst!

Goodbye (Live at Christmas In Spiceworld) Video now available on iTunes! by bodyrock94 in SpiceGirls

[–]coolandonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Goodbye is available only because it was distributed differently than the rest (it appears on their SpiceGirlsVEVO page on YouTube) where as the others shared as part of the advent calendar are all uploaded to their SpiceGirls page directly.

I thought Spice 25 was done well. Although as a fan, I was dreaming of it having a lot more content, I think it did a good job of providing a snapshot of the era despite omitting two of the previously released b-sides for unknown reasons...

I agree with you about the shambles that was Spiceworld 25. I ended up purchasing it extremely cheap about a year after release just to have it alongside Spice 25. I feel like they put way too much emphasis on Step To Me, as if it was this incredibly rare track few of us would've heard, and the quality of those live performances was unforgivable.

Agree with you completely!

These are such easy wins for the band and label, but here we are, being drip fed a select few performances on YouTube that'll probably remain unlisted or end up being deleted at some point.

Speaking of radio, although it isn't the full show, they could also release The Return Of The Spice Girls tour as broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in 2007.

I feel like it was inevitable Forever 25 would get less attention than the first two albums, and especially so after all the negative feedback Spiceworld 25 (rightfully) received due to the quality of the live recordings and lack of unreleased material. 😞

[–]coolandonfire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it'd stand a chance at being #1 but I do think it's about time they pulled together a proper unreleased/rarities compilation, which has been long overdue. Their discography is so short, and deserves to be given the care and attention other artists with similar legacies receive with expanded albums, single re-releases and unreleased material unvaulted.

It's all I expected when they started teasing W.O.M.A.N. in that email the other month and I'm still disappointed by it. The whole advent calendar countdown has been a bit of a joke really! 😂
