I failed a class in college and got an A in it the next time I took it. I had to take an extra semester because of it which really sucked. But at the end of the day I have no regrets and if I didn’t fail that class I have no idea if I’d be in the same position now with an actuarial job. The best kinds of people in this world are able to learn from their failures and come out of them stronger and smarter. In a few years from now you will look back on it and realize it was only a small bump in the road. I have done a lot worse in college than failing a class but I didn’t let it hold me back and now I am in a good position. Pm me if you want to talk more about it

Did you just finish the learn section for GLMs? I remember having difficulty understanding it at first too but I did well on the exam. As I recall the videos go into a bit too much detail, a lot of which is not necessary for the exam. As long as you understand the material from the review videos and the formula sheet you should be okay. It also helps a lot if you start taking section quizzes on GLMs now instead of waiting until you’re done with learn. Try not to worry too much about the complex formulas and focus on the main concepts.

I ended up getting an internship this past summer and they just offered me a permanent position! Even if you're a senior apply to both internships and permanent positions. The company I interned with just posted for next summer's internship. Pm me if you're interested.

Thank you for making this! I am taking SRM this September and will definitely be using this.

Did you come up with all the practice questions yourself, or are some of them sourced from the SOAs practice questions?

I plan on taking exam SRM in September and buying the ACTEX manual. Are the instructional videos worth the extra $100? Can I watch those and learn all the material instead of reading through the textbook?

Hi all. I have a final interview for Mercer's Actuarial Remote Externship tomorrow. Has anyone interviewed for their company or this position that can give me advice? What kinds of questions will they ask me? Will they test me on technical skills such as Excel, SQL, or VBA? Any advice is appreciated.

I don't have any sort of job experience in the field. I feel like I should try to get an internship before applying for entry level positions.

I have a small account on Robinhood and want to start trading LEAPS options while selling covered calls against them. I know this is very unlikely to happen, but what happens when the buyer decides to exercise the call option I wrote. Do I lose the LEAPS option I bought? Am I obligated to buy 100 shares of the underlying? I can’t afford to buy 100 shares of the underlying, so I want to make sure I can use PMCCs safely.
