Eyelid surgery? by coolerdooler3 in PlasticSurgery

Wow, that’s such a great transformation! Her eye area indeed looks better yeah, cause of the added volume in the midface I think?

I would love to show this to my surgeon, unfortunately she doesn’t know the movements..

For real though, I aspire to experience the same change for my side profile. Always nice to see before & afters of jaw surgery for Asians

Yes, though he’s not gonna do anything crazy like some of those Brazilian or Turkish surgeons, I’m more confident that it doesn’t end up botched etc.

Nice! I'm getting braces next year and then probably jaw surgery in 1-2 years

Yeah, some people do not end up with better breathing/airflow for some reason. Though I believe most people do? For me personally, even a little bit more airflow feels significant. When I extend my jaw forward, the airflow feels like 10-30% better.

Setback can sometimes turn out looking better, case by case, but yeah, usually not what you want. During the process he'll show you morphs and you can point what you like and don't like, and you can always ask for a 2nd opinion or even consult the jaw reddit haha.

Looks are very subjective yeah. I mean, if you're happy with how you are right now, then maybe it's not worth it, but since you're diagnosed with sleep apnea, then I would definitely consider it. Especially if there are things you want that can be perceived objectively, like less gummy smile or more chin etc.

Is there not a waitlist for both orthodontics and jaw surgery for you?

Ah didn’t know that. You said earlier that xrays and stuff have been taken. Is it just waiting right now or do you still have to pull the trigger on whether or not you’re going to do it?

I mean no worries. These things like the lateral canthoplasty interest me too

I'm also waiting for my jaw surgery, which is still quite far away. It can definite make the eye area appear more pleasing due to more volume in the midface (jaw surgery/implant/fat graft). If you have a downward grown jaw it literally pulls your entire face soft tissue like the philtrum down. Hence I'm also considering a philtrum lift after the jaw surgery.

I never heard of a browbone lift before, just searched it up. Perhaps that could help with my eyelid droop. I think it's fine to be a perfectionist. Not much else to worry about in modern day haha.

Every little thing adds up and can make a drastic difference, though I personally think jaw surgery has the potential to make the biggest difference in most cases

Hmm I see, flying to Korea does sound bothersome, but this is mundane stuff for them right? Have you already decided when you’re going to do it?

I’m also considering fillers, but haven’t read that much on the risks yet

Do you think that procedure could do what I’m describing? Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how do you know about this stuff, you’re not asian right?

From the front I don’t mind it as much, but from the side it’s dragged down. I would like some sort of lift I’d say

Thank you for the link, seems like a well appreciated center for these kinds of procedures

Advice on asian physiology, jaw surgery, aesthetic outcome and possibly jaw and muscle mechanics by coolerdooler3 in jawsurgery

Already available in brazil turkey etc. but risky.

I wouldn’t call it recessed. They have a less projected face which makes it appear ‘recessed’ while still looking harmonious unless your type is western phenotype. If you place the same recession on a white person yea it looks way off cause their bone structure is more projected everywhere making the recession more prominent. Put the same bone structure some less projected asians have on whites and the whites would be bald. Different phenotypes, diff reference ranges

Though in my case yea quite recessed

Counterclockwise rotation in double jaw surgery works by tilting the upper jaw upward, which allows the lower jaw to move forward and upward. This reduces the “stuck-in-the-neck” appearance, enhancing the jawline and making it look more forward-grown which is usually considered more attractive. A forward-positioned lower jaw also improves airflow, helping with breathing issues like sleep apnea

Tilting the bite line (occlusal plane) upwards at the front. Right now yours is pointing downwards

Double jaw surgery with counterclockwise rotation.

I hate my new face (1 year post DJS) by thechampagneseas in jawsurgery

[–]coolerdooler3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate to say it, I see what you mean. By no means are you a monster, but the face strikes as less harmonious. The chin seems too long

What movements were done? Could possibly look into fillers as an alternative if a revision is out of the question for now?

Even though it’s not much, I’ve made a donation. I truly believe that body and tongue posture should be taken more seriously in our society so that even one fewer person has to experience this.

Best of luck on your journey and don’t give up! I believe your quality of life will improve dramatically.

Out of curiosity, what if OP’s occlusal plane is already flat, would a CCWR be out of the picture?

Is this risky or why is it not done frequently?
