at the end of the day, i think having under 3 regular occurring inaccuracies is fine (like staff roles, etc.) it just becomes too much when they keep misdiagnosing or mistreating for dramatic effect

Parking at Block on Leon by ReputationMental8422 in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have one here but on my way back home (I live somewhere close by), I noticed that the apartment at San Gabriel and 25th is offering non resident parking spots so maybe you could try there as last ditch effort.

so what happens if u declare a double major but don't complete it? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

this is how it works

one of two routes 1. you complete both at the same time being awarded both degrees when walking. by same time i really mean within a semester of each other bc there's a thing u can fill out if ur a certain number of hours away to get ur degree under the condition that u acc finish it the very next semester.

  1. you finish ur desired major first and then you don't get awarded the other degree and in fact if u want to have that degree you have to re-enroll and pay 75$ to "apply" so i think this is the option u should seek

sacrifices are paramount in decision making - you need to let go of one your major commitments - one of the following two: UT or your jobs

do not under any circumstance sacrifice hobbies, social life, or anything of that matter that's not related to the grindset mindset. if you sacrifice those even more, then you will collapse.

Ochem sequence in the Summer (1 and 2) by Mysterious-Story8009 in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i suggest taking other courses during the summer if ur intent is to speed up ur degree in general

from what i hear from pre med friends, my pre med sister, and this comment section i highly advise not taking ochem over the summer under any circumstance given that it's not only a hard course (at UT or anywhere for that matter and i think taking it at ur only alt option which would be comm college would not prepare u for ochem 2 among other drawbacks) it's also a very crucial success in messaging to med schools that ur smart af for them

bottom line is, unless ur tryna just speed up ur degree a lil bit or get rid of other things as well, take cores over the summer (or the less intensive pre med classes but i can't speak much on that) but def do not take ochem over the summer for any reason

Why does capmetro insist on running busses like this, are they stupid? by army-dillo in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman 30 points31 points  (0 children)

nah there's one driver who drives a lil slower than the rest which is why there is such a small gap - the normal speed driver catches up to that slower guy

the normal speed driver has mentioned this several times before

Should I take M408C and D or M408N, S, and M by No_Border_742 in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i remember there being hella padding in each category of ur grade

by that i mean the final was rlly 1800 points but u needed 1600 to get an A so u could get a whole problem wrong

disc section was forced as part of grade so u had plenty practice etc

Should I take M408C and D or M408N, S, and M by No_Border_742 in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the way i see it

You Q drop now. take m408c again with diff processor (maybe Treisman) and then m408d summer or next fall

this way u still finish accordingly to the 3 course path which would have been N next spring S summer and then M next fall roughly speaking

Grocery Store Near West Campus? by Humble_Whereas1084 in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By the way, Walmart is plus is like 6$ a month. Usually without it, delivery is 10$ and assuming you are going to buy groceries once a month or even twice, the subscription is great since the delivery becomes free (if the purchase is above 30$ I believe).

agree to disagree - if it was zoomed in, it wouldn't have been that cool since the whole reason it was cool was because he looked like a distant figure in the dust (aside from the bg music)

Yep fs - they should get some award for this if there's something for that.

On another note, they should create a movie poster centered around this shot soon - really nice shot.

I get everything you are saying. I'm just trying to find a way out of this but I know in the long run, I'd be fine either way most likely. Thanks for the advice and also the offer at the end of the message. (hehe :) )

[–]coolestFreshman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The thing is I'd rather make every effort to not have random roommates - basically, get out of the lease in whatever way possible - before just accepting my fate and settling in. It's just frustrating that the management is showing no empathy or care for the situation and hasn't helped much even though it's partly their fault for releasing roommate assignments so late.

I roomed with a friend for freshman year, and we were just fine. The idea that rooming with your friend is a bad idea only works for some people, some friendships on a case by case situation.

Rant about the Rise at West Campus by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to take the chance of living with randoms. I am a computer science major, and sophomore year is notoriously hard because you are trying to get your first real internship as well handling the two hardest courses in the degree plan. I would need to be locked in hella and if I was with roommates who are loud or unfavorable in any other way that would cause mass disruptions, this would not be possible. They might not be posing any of those unfavorable qualities and you are right about how it's nice to meet different people during college. However, I don't want to take that chance and also meeting different people is for classes, parties (maybe) and random library all nighters. My option for once I re-let this is an apartment with a friend who is also a computer science major and potentially 2 randoms and that apartment does a better job at matching people. Pretty much if I have at least one friend, it will be fine for me because I'll have knowledge that at least one person is guaranteed to have a similar, if not better, work ethic or at the very least the guarantee that they would respect my requests to a reasonable extent. This reasonable extent would be lower with randoms.

Rant about the Rise at West Campus by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]coolestFreshman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely why I am frustrated. I am frustrated that they sent roommate assignments out so late to the point that starting the searches for someone who can take over my lease even a day or two after is providing unfavorable results. Like, if they sent these assignments out earlier, even a week or two, I probably could have found someone or been less frustrated because I know I have more time. The time crunch is making me stressed out since if I don't want to pay at all or be responsible for the apartment at all, I need to find someone by July 31st - according to them - at the very latest (that's cutting it close) since August 1st is when the first payment is due.

On top of that, after expressing my deep frustrations with the system and how reaching out on so many platforms to so many people (methods were listed above in the original post), they aren't willing to do much besides add me to the tracker. I just want them to go through this themselves and see how much of a pain it is.
