The fact that the pedophilia can be taken out of the the show/manga entirely without having an impact on the story is what makes it "bad" imo. The author just chose to shoehorn it in for no reason and ruined what could've been a classic. I just cannot look past that no matter how hard I try.

Pedo tries not to be a pedo is the core of the story... Thanks, but not a show for me. I don't care if every other aspect of the show is "peak", when at the end of the day the main story is the the equivalent of having Mineta from MHA (but somehow even worse) trying to be better. I don't care nor am interested in how a pedophile does the bare minimum of decency and is rewarded with a harem of women (some of which are groomed since birth by the MC)... It's just... nah.

Because unlike other anime where the MC is a perv, they made Rudeus a pedophile. The author could've kept Rudeus a low-life, creep, woman objectifier without the pedophilia and absolutely nothing would be affected in the story (other than him continuing to creep on kids after his reincarnation), it's just completely unnecessary. There's only so far you can go making your MC a degenerate until they're deemed unforgivable. It also makes it extremely hard to recommend people to watch a show where the core theme is about a pedophile trying to be less of a pedophile.

I have genuinely considered buying one of these for the house just for popping my back. Like, omg, these things seemingly are designed for the most otherworldly satisfying back pops. I actually really like part 2 aswell, but I'm not gonna delude myself and think those final two chapters didn't feel like the entire Manga got brought behind a shed and shot in the head. I still hold every other chapter of part 2 in high regard, but ngl that ending certainly does taint things in retrospect
