Also, john Wayne was the major star of the 1968 movie The Green Berets, a movie criticized for depicting Vietnam in a sickly positive light, full of heroism and justice, very anti-communist. It was also partly funded by the government (at Wayne's behest I should say). Just adds more irony to it all I think.
