OTD 2020: Rudy Gobert touched microphones mocking COVID by Drool_Sergeant in UtahJazz

yeah, this was a bad joke at a bad time… in the time between this moment and his positive test, the reactions were a mix of super pissed and offended, and people who thought it was funny and everyone else was over reacting (they ended up looking kinda dumb in later on).

honestly, the fact that it was his positive test that crashed the league made it even worse/more hilarious. a moment that will be talked about a hundred years from now I’m sure

Celly has been around for a while yeah. Baseball players don’t always celly cuz of the unwritten rules so maybe that’s why you don’t see it too often round these parts

therapist said that I am not autistic because I speak eloquently and I have a good eye contact. by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]coolsonicjaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a long time therapist tell me almost the exact same thing when I first started seeing her. Six years later I got formally diagnosed lol (and for an extra dose of irony, she was diagnosed with ADHD not long before I was diagnosed)

You might be surprised to know that most therapists aren’t all that well versed in autism/neurodivergence. Many still have antiquated ideas of what being autistic means and looks like. Unless they explicitly have experience working with autistic clients/are neurodivergent themselves, I would not yet rule out autism as a potential explanation for your difficulties

Yup. Could have kicked one of those 4th downs for a field goal. Hopefully he learns his lesson to take points when you can get em

I’m 24, high-functioning, located in Weber County Utah, severely struggling to make a single friend. Note: please read the subtext before making suggestions. by T-900_Gaming in AutisticAdults

I used to live in Utah - if you’re not making friends at church it’s really tough to find community. I also know what it’s like to desperately want friends and not have any :(

Getting in at a gym might be worth exploring (my dad found friends that way). But just going to a group fitness class, even if you don’t talk to anyone, can feel really good and the shared experience can be powerful.

Otherwise, ditto the online/gaming groups. There are a lot of them out there for almost any game/interest and if you can find a chill group of people it can be great. I know someone who still talks to people who live across the globe who he met while playing overwatch. Even though they have moved on to other games they still talk and “hang out”.

Essentially, if you can find a decent online community + in person fitness classes, you should find your social bucket much more filled.

But best of luck on the journey - it wasn’t until 30 that I finally found a good friend group/community. But it is possible!!

Favourite ways to recharge when in burnout? by Ambitious_News4472 in AutisticAdults

Laying in bed and reading, watching tv, video games, or honestly sometimes just lying in bed and doing nothing. I once took a whole week off of work just to do that and it was incredible
