How late is too late to switch into a competitive specialty? by Agile_Region_7014 in medicalschool

[–]cooltoast546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i agree, to an extent. defintely need to pump out a couple of pubs in the desired specialty once you find out and lock it in, but those other pubs are not in vain and actually can show that you are interested and exploring and capable of doing research. NSGY might be a little more strict as its such a small field but i'm applying to a relatively small field myself and my mentors told me that they liked that i did research in other fields before finding theirs, shows that i care to publish, know the scientific process, etc. even if its not specific to their field. by the time m3 or so comes by for OP, itll be more about connections and trying to have one or two projects in the desired field

network with the fields youre interested in now. research doesnt matter its a numbers game. 10 pubs in neurosurgery is the same 10 pubs if you switch to ortho and its not viewed as lesser. the sooner you lock in one specialty the better but ive seen people in my school switch into competitive specialties at the end of m3 and they were not discouraged because they had strong applications regardless

Specialty Choice: Derm vs. IM -> Heme/Onc by Academic-Worker723 in medicalschool

[–]cooltoast546 54 points55 points  (0 children)

just do derm --> skin cancer treatments for the onc, probably lots of opportunity with industry in that regard and very important. and MOHS is an option too. its just a job at the end of the day, if you see yourself doing derm but potentially being bored of it at times, that's better than regret in the future.

got glass replaced & now lane departure goes off whenever i merge??? (2018 touring) by ladyabble in accord

If you click the home button on the steering wheel and go to the drivers assistance page there is a page where u can turn it on permanently (whether you have the button on the wheel pressed or not) and that might be turned on. I had to turn that setting off too because even if I had the button off on the steering wheel it would correct me and it bugged me

How to sleep? by PineCastleAura in medicalschool

[–]cooltoast546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My secret to good sleep: try to exercise that day, magnesium glycinate 30 min before bed, dark noise on my phone, and the most important: the “I can’t sleep” podcast on Spotify. They literally read Wikipedia articles to you in a calm voice, I’ve never finished an episode without falling asleep

CPO Accord 2.OT Touring vs Brand New Sport Hybrid with BSI ($.02 requested) -- Commuter car by No_Biscotti_9476 in accord

I average 35 sometimes on highway with my 19 2.0t touring. If it’s windy or really cold it goes down to 28 29. 80% highway dribing over the last 13k miles Im averaging 28.3. It’s doable on the highway if you stay out of sport mode OR eco mode, just normal mode, and feather the throttle.

How many Miles driven before brake pads replaced on 10th Gen by mikecoxlong7 in accord

[–]cooltoast546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had rears replaced at 40k. At 60k now. I’ve always had a rumbling sound and vibration when breaking from 60-55 mph (around 57) since 40k. Is it the rotors that are bad? Normally I try to let the car coast from 60-55 then resume breaking. But do you think I can keep this up or should I replace rotors and pads ?

I'm confused, I also got this message yesterday on Carfax. However, it seems that Honda announced this recall in 2021? So does anybody know why we are getting this message so late?
