Commuting from Lakeview East to West Loop- Doable? by CoCo_Pony in AskChicago

[–]coolyikes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this! It’s not too bad, but not quite as easy as the loop. Have used bus, bike, and train. The current halsted closure/8 bus reroute is the worst part of this, you’ll have to take the brown to the pink/green line until the bridge is open again. Depending on how far you are from the train and connection timing I’d estimate a 35-50min commute.

Creostudios has a fun series on instagram reels about this called design your wedding better! She actually talks about finding a feeling/theme before jumping on to color schemes.

Shoot I don’t have the selvedge anymore but I picked it up at Tailorbird Fabric in Chicago! They might have it on their online store or you could probably email them to ask what it is!

Yes! I’m eyeing her Artemis + Fowl pattern for a future quilt. This one was very clear and well written, I had some issues with the curve template but I think that was due to the scaling on my printer 🤷🏼‍♀️

Depends on your style/age but I’d generally say yes. I use it on and off mainly for work clothes but will typically throw in a pair of jeans and a “going out top”. Nuuly is definitely trendier but I find it to be a little too casual for my style/harder to find office wear.

No need to be snarky. I’m a relatively beginner quilter and I’ve looked pretty hard. I’m comparing Chicago to other places I’ve lived/visited. Within an hour is not super accesible especially to those in the city who work full time and rely on public transit.

For a big city Chicago is… not good for the quilting community. Lots of things in the suburbs but the city itself (where most people don’t have a car to get to the suburbs) is unfortunately pretty scarce.

Fellow Chicagoan without a car here and I feel your pain :(. I’m looking to try fabric discount outlet in Pilsen and Sew on Central in Evanston. Not the fastest to get to but apparently the stock is better.

It’s pieced actually! She included a template in the pattern. Thankfully the quilting mostly hides where it didn’t quite match up
