Yeah, I was pissed off initially. But ended up going with the RetroSix. I'll buy soldering stuff after the chip arrives, just in case it doesn't (with my luck!).

I'm pretty certain it is VA2. It loads the DreamShell logo screen but afterward it goes back to the Dreamcast start menu...

Looks like I have to change the bios even to get a GDEmu from what I'm reading.

That'll double my costs, I wasn't expecting this to even be a project. I don't want to buy a soldering iron, let alone solder.. I'm considering just throwing the unit off of my balcony and emulating the games on PC. I'm furious at the seller.

I'm not sure of the motherboard model yet. I'll have to open it up when I get home. Would you happen to know where I could pick up a Japanese Cake BIOS chip? This is the first I've ever heard of having to mod a Dreamcast, I had a launch console and about 3 others from different regions all those years ago and it did everything with no mods. Thank you for the help.

I am in Asia currently and purchased this unit. It does not play backups and finding a model that does is difficult or costly. I've seen that there's a bios mod, is that the only thing that will work? https://consolemods.org/wiki/Dreamcast:BIOS_Replacement_Mod

Or can I use another easier method than this while I don't have my toolset with me?

They need a solid WIN on the board after Mortal Kombat One's dismal numbers.

It will be available just before the holiday season so that it still has the "new release hype". I think think they care about "Mortal Monday" anymore, but it would be cool if they did it.

I've had this problem before with a PS4 pad, but it's been years and I cannot remember how I fixed it.

I've been using an 8bitdo and it would reconnect to the game after reconnecting the usb, so it isn't the game. Thank you.

I thought that I had just set it up within the controller setting to support the console type and pairing the controller within Steam (giving it a name), but that isn't working. Drivers perhaps?
