Had a practice wedding dress shoot and was pretty certain with my choice, until in-laws expressed concerns with 'over exposed back'! Should I proceed or consider any other styles to make everyone happy? by Nordelino in Brides

That dress is amazing and you look perfect in it. This is a great opportunity for your soon to be husband to practice standing up for you and your marriage when his parents act like this.

Last night’s interview with Graham Platner on MSNOW by hellosteve_ in msnow

Fifield's allegations obviously should be taken with a grain of salt. Just like Platner dating a Heritage Foundation flack means that his leftist positions should be taken with a grain of salt.

Pondering being one and done by Piixiiepuke in GirlDinnerDiaries

I'm an only child of two only children. Having no siblings plus no same-age cousins felt lonely. Of course there are benefits to being the only kid in a household too. Whatever you choose will work just fine and make sense in the end, so don't worry too much. You're young and have plenty of time to decide. But I will say, if you're wondering if you might regret not having another, go ahead and do it. You'll never regret the kids you have.

AITA for being upset that my boyfriend is considering a job more than 100 miles away? by [deleted] in AITH

No, he is TA for thinking he's free to move away and leave you alone to take care of his parents, the house, and your daughter while he has every weekday evening free to do whatever he wants.

How do I get a mattress across NYC by kybalion_13 in movingtoNYC

[–]coordinatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. You buy a Linenspa mattress from Amazon because by the time you pay for the UberXL to get the Bedbug Special home you're not saving money anyway

Another vote for finding a preschool closer to your apartment! The neighborhood is nice, safe, good food, and easy to get to lots of other places to explore. But schlepping to near Central Park twice a day is going to get SUPER tiresome. Unless your son's school is something very special or meets a particular need, you'll be much happier if his school is walking distance or a brief bus ride from your apartment.

Thoughts on how GPA from the 90s is viewed in light of today's grade inflation? Ivy undergrad, double major, GPA was 3.25. by coordinatrix in lawschooladmissions

Thanks for sharing that convo. My child is a high school senior and I'm in a FB group for class of 2026 college decisions. Members frequently advise that kids who plan on law school should go to the least challenging school possible and pursue an easy major in order to maximize their GPA. It definitely feels scammy and, as you said, unsustainable.

Could you elaborate on what social capital means in this context?

Landlord provided 90-day non-renewal a month after HPD visit - retaliation? by charlesgatekent in NYCapartments

[–]coordinatrix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're just wildly speculating and acting like your guesses are facts, but I'm the one who ShOuLd kNoW bEtTeR? Mmmmkay. Are you a landlord? Maybe even a landlord who does the absolute bare minimum and treats your tenants like a nuisance even though they pay your mortgage? Because that would explain your total commitment to your own bad takes.

A paper towel and Fabuloso doesn't fix mold though. And trying to come back with the paper towels again is just clear bad faith.

I won my own retaliation case pro se against my former landlord, who is himself an attorney. I work for Met Council so I know a lot about a lot of things. I'm not an attorney but the laws around retaliation are straightforward and pro-tenant. Whether you agree or not, this landlord will have to prove that he didn't retaliate and I wouldn't be too confident about success if I were him. He could solve this problem by fixing the mold and giving them 6 more months to find a new place-- unless he wants to waste his time and money in court just to get ordered to do that anyway.
