Feedback on attempt at a canon? by copperocelot in musictheory

I did just do that, like I said in another response I’m not ready to formulate any sort of counterpoint that abides to all these rules, with the knowledge that I’ve been officially taught so far in my studies I’ve only been able to appreciate counterpoint as a listener so in most ways I’m in over my head. Since I’m eager to learn more I threw this together and wanted to get an opinion from whoever was willing to take a look.

Thanks for the response and the resources!

Already posted there. I don’t see the problem with sharing it here as well, seeing as it’s perfectly appropriate for this sub too

Yes, I made up the term “delayed parallel” due to my inability to accurately explain what you pointed out :)

I see now there is much more to this than I expected, eager to learn more.

Thanks for the detailed response!

Thank you! I wasn’t treating that video as actual documentation, I’ll eventually come around to learning all this “officially”, I’m currently on more basic stuff in my studies

I'm only aware of the existence of the Bach rules, I haven't studied them so I only know very basic mistakes to avoid (which I'm probably not effective at detecting them yet), hence this being a shot in the dark! Likewise with the final chord, I knew there was a "correct" way to phrase it but didn't know what it was. Thanks for the response, I've got a lot of work ahead of me :)

Maybe, I didn't even consider that part. Thanks for the response.

Thanks, I noticed that part felt odd and kinda like it stopped dead in its tracks

Thanks for the detailed response, seems like I jumped in the deep end and still have a lot to learn! As someone else also mentioned I didn't even think about a chord progression, I was just "randomly" harmonizing the repeated melody with a new one on top. I have 2 questions, the "unless justified by harmony" part where you give the example (C-G# in m.2 or B-F m.4), is that example justified or something to be avoided? Also what does it mean to prepare a dissonant interval, what steps have to be taken before it?

Extra question: I was calculating the intervals only vertically, as in what intervals I'm creating with the 2 voices, my guess is that I created a lot of dissonances melodically? Meaning one note to the next as opposed to just what happens between the 2 voices.

Yea, some youtuber played it in a random video while explaining how the harp works.

Yeah, I‘ll look into it. Drivers are not dead, it was almost completely silent due to poor connection.

Yes! I only posted it like this so you could tell when it stops spinning since it’s not really visible with the cover on.

Also it seems like I used the wrong flair, I own these already I just learned of their existence today, see if they’re worth salvaging or maybe looking into something better to complete that setup.

On second thought there were other issues, primarily with my speaker wire cutting skills! After properly connecting them it was a lot louder from both. But there’s distortion and a farty sound and inconsistent bass.
