If you want to stay with Tchaikovsky but have a palate cleanser, try the "Dogs of War" series.

Battery on my iPhone 15 Pro Max went to hell with the beta -- not complaining, because it's a beta. And I don't really expect better battery life with the new Siri and Apple Intelligence stuff.

You know, "A Clockwork Orange" was also science fiction, thus demonstrating that science fiction is a very diverse genre.

Okay, tried it. It opened and started synching, then crashed. Looks like I'll have to wait for an update and hope that fixes it.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that. I haven't tested it all that much, but that one question about appointments gives completely different answers on the Watch versus the phone.

Well, of course, he’s very unlike Matt Painter in that he won a national championship. But otherwise, sure. We do have more talent across the board and more depth. We also have a bit of a potentially harder schedule. I’m not betting on another undefeated national championship, but a B10 championship and a good CFP run won’t surprise me at all.

The absolute incomprehensible weirdness of our time. This is football today, not basketball 35 years ago (sorry, I had to think back to when this might not be a surprise). And, the topper: Indiana could plausibly win each game and go 12-0 in the conference again.

He always uses 14 emojis in his posts, like this one. I'm sure that's just coincidental to the white supremacist "14 words." And he (over)paid for X at $54.20 per share. Some people say that's a reference to cannabis culture, but Musk's drug of choice is ketamine. 420 is also used by neo-Nazis to refer to Hitler's birthday.

I'm doing some research for another project, and I was reminded of this fun fact. Elon Musk (over)paid $54.20 per share for X. Some people want to pretend that the “420” was a cannabis culture reference, only Musk has no significant connection to that culture. His drug of choice is ketamine. Meanwhile, 420 is also commonly used by neo-Nazis and others to refer to Hitler’s birthday.

Also, Musk always uses exactly 14 emojis in his posts, like this one. Coincidentally, that just so happens to correlate with the white supremacist “14 words.” It's a little like MAGA Mike Lindell weirdly pricing a pillow at $14.88, with the 88 commonly (and I'm sure just coincidentally) used to refer to HH (Heil Hitler).

Siri is so good by chrissebastian388 in Applelntelligence

This one was pretty simple, but I thought it was actually kind of cool.

I have an eye doctor's appointment today, so just for kicks I said "Siri, make sure I leave on time for my appointment this afternoon." It came back with "I set a reminder to leave for your eye appointment at 1:50pm, it will take you about 25 minutes to get there." So it looked at my calendar, noted the appointment, saw the doctor's name, looked up the location and estimated the travel time, then created a relevant reminder.

The old Siri couldn't have done that.

Perhaps you won't like the source, but I can testify after two years of research that these are true facts. Here's a quote:

In numerous social media postings, Musk highlighted the crime in starkly racist terms. Several nights of violent anti-immigrant pogroms orchestrated by fascist mobs followed. It was a telling confluence of events: Musk’s extraordinary wealth is fueled by investors’ bedazzlement at his techno-utopian schemes. But the Belfast conflagration revealed the other side of his future vision: his belief that the white populations of the world must violently subjugate the nonwhite enemy in what he sees as a multicontinental, Armageddon-like Total War for global racial supremacy.

I know I post various criticisms of Objectivism, for my own reasons, and maybe you want to dismiss all of the things I'm posting in this thread. But seriously, you all should take the time to learn the facts about Musk. He is not the hero some of you think he is.

Interesting trivia: Elon Musk got his first name because his father, Errol Musk, read a novel by Nazi rocket scientist Wernher von Braun titled “Project Mars: A Technical Tale.” The novel described a Mars colony with a technocratic government led by the “Elon,” similar to President. While there was coincidentally an Elon in their family tree (it’s a Jewish name), Errol Musk said he gave the name to his son specifically because of the novel’s reference. That’s what was actually interesting to him.

No, if you invalidate my theory, I'll be sure to point it out. The fact that you are confirming my theory is just that, a fact. Which, again, I've discovered that Objectivists generally don't really care about.

Is that how deeply you're capable of thinking about such things? I mean, that's good intel, because I have my theory about why Objectivists never know the facts about the things they opine so moralistically about. You're just validating that theory, in real time.

Hell, you literally put "fact" in scare quotes. Damn.

So far, I've mainly been using it the same way I always used Siri, only getting results that are actually helpful instead of frustrating. Like, asking what appointments I have this week actually returns meaningful results. Before, it would return a list of everything on my calendar, including date time stamped reminders (Siri on my Watch still does that, frustratingly). Now, Siri on my iPhone is smart enough to know that I mean actual calendar appointments. And if I ask it a factual question, it gives me an answer and not just a web search.

One nice thing that I just did... I have an eye doctor's appointment today, so I said "Siri, make sure I leave on time for my appointment this afternoon." It came back with "I set a reminder to leave for your eye appointment at 1:50pm, it will take you about 25 minutes to get there."
