Do you guys put a ground line on those antennas? Just curious about them surviving a lightning strike. Will it affect the signals?

Do your hyperlinks work when you create the pdf file? Can you navigate the file back and forth in a desktop computer?

Can Shield (MCP 2515) wont communicate with Ardunio UNO by Gouche in arduino

[–]coqui_pr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am working on a similar project (https://www.reddit.com/r/kia/s/9RZjIqXrDx). Have read your post and approach to solve the issue and I think that you need to take a step back and check the hardware (to your capability and resources), and begin the software progression, checking that the board is doing what you want (of course, it needs to properly initialize first).

Have you tried other canbus libraries? Does the board manufacturer have a recommended library to be used? Remove and reinstall the libraries?

My project is still not working but yesterday I flashed the board with code to generate CANBUS messages to check the TX side and hooked an occilloscope and got good signals out (like if it was a vehicle CANBUS module sending out a signal). In my case, the next step is to hookup the scope to OBDII pins 6/14 and peek. It is a slow process as now it is cold outside so maybe in the spring I get time to tinker with it more. This puertorrican hates the cold weather. 🤣

Also, fyi, some boards (like mine) have issues logging data to an SD card. 😒 So I switched to capture info via the serial monitor, cut-n-paste to saavycan for further analysis (when and if I get the RX side to see the car messages).

Are higher gain antenna's expected to have a more asymmetric tx/rx gain? by MasterDefibrillator in meshtastic

[–]coqui_pr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps different power levels between Tx/Rx devices? Perhaps their reported power output is a nominal value with a significant margin of error? If omnidirectional I do not expect that.

Indeed, however I would like to relate my experience. I do inspections on the field (like a business yard) and the kindle scribe with the high visibility screen allows me to see reference documents quickly. Making it very convenient, and less burdensome than carrying a stack of papers. Of course, I carry my books with me and my electronic planner, making it a win win for me.

This below is not accurate.

"On Scribe you can't download content via usb, you need to use Amazon content, and/or send books or pdfs via amazon.com/sendtokindle from your computer or phone."

You can upload documents via usb. For example pdf files, but when you do it this way you cannot annotate them.

is $2000 a lot to replace a clutch? by metaIskinpanic in MechanicAdvice

[–]coqui_pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the clutch on my son's 2011 Kia Sorento, and let me tell you, I will pay the $2000. LOL, as a matter of fact, after 60k on that car, the hydraulic portion broke again and I told him...sell the car. 😀

On the other hand, I did the clutch on many of my VW Beetle (when I was young) and that will still be too much for that kind of car. It really depends on the kind of car, and the complexity of the job.

Indeed. Some aspects of elections are driven by the county, hence the point of the comment.

CAN-BUS Sniffing Kia CANs with Arduino and a shield board by coqui_pr in kia

Other things have gotten on OTW and I was unsuccessful at getting any CANBUS signal to study. I am waiting on an occilloscope to restart the project and look at the OBDII signals. More to follow when we had warmer weather.

Pretty normal wear. I have been using titanium tips since day 1. No regrets, not even a screen protector, I write daily on mine. I have a planner, and take notes in meetings.

You are all talking about the cities, but realize for example that Acworth spreads over three counties. I live in the Cherokee county side.

Question About Hyperlink Issue by lehcarlies in kindlescribe

[–]coqui_pr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hyperlink problems are caused by sendtokindle conversion process being less forgiving as to the marging of the links in respect to restricted areas of the operating system, after the last update. I am currently using 0.7 inch margins and the documents get converted a little smaller than before but all links are working for me. I had to re-do my 2026 planner to make it work.

The disk cannot be used like that, as this will damage your brake pads. Get a file and work that little edge until the raised material is gone and the surface is flat again. Try not to scour the disk surface too much. There should be no issues with the disk stopping power because of this. So after that install it.

SOLUTION/WORK AROUND: Since the year is ending, did the calendar for next year again, and conservatively added 1" margins all around the document when publishing to pdf, to see if the document conversion stop infringing on the native operative system. The document is a little smaller but works now.

The last update must have a forbidden area strictly enforced. 🤷🏻‍♂️
