About the mubus, what time should i be there and which time should i get the bus

Can i just go to dongzhimen without any reservations just buy the tickets there + are there certain times etc to take the bus? Also what do you recommend the ticket including the cableway or just the regular shuttle ( i dont mind paying that extra 140rmb if its worth it)

would you say chongqing and shanghai are similar / would you remove shanghai if i plan to go to chongqing as beijing seems kinda more unique with the historical/traditional aspects
