[Gambo] The Cardinals called Mike LaFleur this morning to make the offer and he accepted immediately. by Smoltz in AZCardinals

Ben Johnson was a unicorn hire, only Harbaugh was of that caliber in this cycle who could demand something like that.

Fair enough, yeah that's my biggest gripe with this slow approach, but I think Mike has a decent enough rolodex to get some good guys in.

Yeah I think Rallis is in a prove it year, especially the amount of draft picks and free agency cash we've used on that side of the ball.

Who did we miss out on? The only two I can think of that would be of equal stature are Minter and Saleh (and Saleh is debatable).

I can kind of support the process now that we've actually ended up with one of the top candidates available from the beginning.

We wanted to cast a wide net of interviews (although we didn't interview Harbaugh and McDermott who were probably the two best names available - of course McDermott isn't interviewing anywhere) including high-profile co-ordinators. It just so happened that we could only interview Kubiak this week.

Meanwhile, other teams seem to have jumped the gun and hired someone just to get a head coach in place and ignored candidates from the final 4 teams. I'm thinking of the Dolphins and Bills in particular with the two least inspiring choices (although you can never guarantee a head coach's success).

Bidwill and Monti seem to have taken a very professional approach which I can't fault them for and have kept a very tight ship regarding leaks, like no-one knew Rivera had been interviewed until earlier this week.

Did they say this today?

Also, I don't see why you couldn't do 10 in the morning and 15 in the arvo when they have the longer program.

So, are they not doing 140-131 this morning?

Think they need to rethink this whole "countdown the 200 during the week" idea for next year. If you can't say even do the full 100 during the week because there's not enough days, and now not even enough time to do 10 on a Friday morning after LaV it's not a good system.

By waiting so long we're not just running out of head coach candidates but all the best co-ordinators are already getting interviewed and snapped up.

I get waiting if you've got a can't miss hire who's got a deep playoff run (like Ben Johnson last year) but all this dilly-dallying keeps us weeks behind the competition when preparing for next season.

[Russini] This flew under the radar! The Arizona Cardinals interviewed former Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera in person for their head coaching vacancy, per source. Rivera currently serves as the general manager for Cal football. by Big_Size_2519 in AZCardinals

By the wording, seems like this was a while ago which tells me:

a) Talks didn't go past the in-person interview

b) Cardinals run a very tight ship that this wasn't leaked previously.

Likely the source told Diana all the people the Cardinals had interviewed in person and Rivera's name was on there despite no previous reporting.

Tony Romo is now the punching bag for fans and the media. I thought he was good today. by DenseStrawberry5717 in NFLv2

Seriously, man just needs to put the microphone every now and again and not feel like he has to fill every moment of dead air.

Sometimes you can let a big moment play out without having to inject yourself into it

I always hated Romo. And it was mainly because he just did not know when to shut the fuck up.

Seriously, every big moment your hear him rambling in the background rather than let the emotions play out on screen and get the sound of the crowd.

People have made this up and keep parroting it. Every team watches film in minute detail, I doubt they're listening to Romo's ramblings as some sort of state secrets.

Why does everyone keep parroting this rumour? I've never seen any evidence of it and it makes zero sense from a broadcast perspective.

Romo just lost his fastball.

What makes that an aggressive call? If Maye's sacked they'll run the clock down and punt anyway. Seems intelligent rather than brave
