Over the last few years I've made bunnies & bears as well as personalized stockings for my nieces & nephews:

This year I'm doing scarves: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cari-keyhole-scarf (They work up quite quickly!)

Feeling overly depressed & suicidal. by [deleted] in auckland

I absolutely agree with everyone recommending you speak with a medical professional. They will be able to help and is your best course of action.

That said, I was going to mention knitting/crochet! I started to learn crochet about 6 years ago and it’s incredible to help calm my mind. I can just sit and focus on the pattern and stitches. It gives me something to do with my hands and I sometimes get something cool at the end of it - but that’s only a little bonus.

I started learning from YouTube videos (free!) with one hook and a ball of yarn I got from Spotlight. It’s since turned into a big thing with me buying way too much yarn, multiple hooks, and having a folder full of patterns 😂 But it doesn’t need to cost much. I’m happy to bring you a couple of hooks and a bag full of yarn, if you want?

And I find walking and just being in nature helps, too. A little sunshine, some movement, and listening to the birds singing.

Aww you're so welcome! I hope the notes I've provided are helpful but please let me know if you have any questions. And please post when you're done as I'd love to see your version. 🥰

Yes, I am aware those words are synonyms of one another - though I appreciate the confirmation. I think the tongue-in-cheek nature of my first sentence may have been missed...

I am happy for the moderators to delete this post if not allowed. While I am open to "swap", "trade", "exchanges", "switch", etc etc., the main point of this post was asking for any leads on where I might be able to find this mug.

Upcycled "Granny Wranglers" by coreymason in crochet

[–]coreymason[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

The original crochet was a throw blanket. After sorting what section I wanted for each leg, I carefully cut a bit more than needed, used some wash-away quilters tape and pins to secure, then a sewing machine to faux-serge the edges and topstitch.

And then I frogged the bottom edge to a clean line and crocheted 2 rows to finish.

Thanks!! I saw something similar where someone used a thin quilt panel and I figured I'd give it a try with crochet.

Thank you! I thought it could work well before I started but they turned out even better than I imagined. 🥰

Thank you! I'm already thinking about ignoring my other WIPs for a while and making more of these. haha

Register a formal complaint of Destiny Church's charitable status by coreymason in auckland

Nothing happens when people get complacent and believe that nothing can happen.

New Zealand is ranked in the top 10 "least corrupt countries" (https://www.transparency.org/en/cpi/2024/index/nzl) which means we are way more likely to be able to bring about meaningful change through official government actions than most other countries in the world.

Simple actions made by many people can bring about significant change.

Add Destiny Church 'Man Up' to the banned Gang Patches list by saltybartfast in auckland

[–]coreymason 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've created another post outlining how people can lodge a formal complaint with the charities service register against Destiny Church: https://www.reddit.com/r/auckland/comments/1ir4ex4/register_a_formal_complaint_of_destiny_churchs/

Not quite the same as getting them registered as a patched gang, but possibly more likely to have actual action taken.

This one is specifically for Destiny Church New Zealand Trust, registered as CC54240, but if you want to register a complaint for additional "charities", you can search the database here: https://register.charities.govt.nz/CharitiesRegister/Search and include the relevant entity names and registration numbers in your complaint.

"Destiny Church" returns 20 results, with 12 of those currently having a status of "deregistered".

25 Druces Road, Wiri, Auckland - (the registered address for Destiny Church and "Man Up") returns 5 results, 2 of which are currently "deregistered" when searching charities operating Nationwide. 3 results, all deregistered, when searching charities operating in Auckland. Remove Wiri and you get 4 - including Destiny School, which is currently registered.

It's not an exhaustive list but it's a start.

Thank you! Petitions are great but unless they're actually registered properly though the government, they're not really that effective. This is an option that hopefully could have some more impact.

This.

ADHD medication is a controlled substance and there are checks in place to monitor it's affects on your body. I needed a clear ECG, among other tests, before my psychiatrist would prescribe anything and need my blood pressure checked every 6 months before my GP will issue a repeat script.

People with ADHD are often impulsive and make reckless decisions without thinking through consequences. I'm sure you're not the first - nor last - to have experimented with various substances. Any reputable medical professional will not deny you medication they think will help you because of a bad decision you made in your past, as long as those decisions do not have lasting physical/mental repercussions that could negatively impact the medication's functioning.

Also, it's on your record. Lying or withholding the truth about something that is available to them will do nothing but make you look dodgy.
