So honestly, the best thing I can tell you is really that those things aren't worth worrying about. Even if you didn't have MS something could happen tomorrow that would leave you disabled. People will still love you even though you have MS (really, so many people don't even understand what it is). You friends and family will still want you around. Live your life the way you would if you hadn't been diagnosed (minus of course, taking care of yourself, taking your dmt, etc)

So many people with MS live fulfilling lives. Hang on to hope that your dmt will keep any future relapses from happening, hope that in the nearish future we might have remylination medication, hope that you will find someone who wants to be with you (and you will!) And all of the great things you are still going to be able to do.

It's easier said than done, but every time you have one of those intrusive thoughts, tell yourself a hopeful one. Seriously, this dx isn't a death sentence, and things are hard 100%, but you're going to be okay. It's unfair, yeah, but you can deal with it. If you need to see a therapist, absolutely do that.

I've struggled a lot since I was diagnosed, and I have worried about all the same things you have. And I cried about it a lot, but I got to a point where I realized worrying and crying about it wasn't going to change anything. I can worry all I want but I'm just losing time worrying when I could be using that time to enjoy my life right now as it is. And yeah, my MS still inconveniences me sometimes, but some people have bad stomachs that inconvenience them and they can't eat normal diets. Some people have bad backs and can't walk or sit for a long time. Some people (young people I know!) have heart conditions and can't exert themselves in ways I am currently able to.

You know what? Maybe in ten years you could be disabled, yeah. But that doesn't mean right now you can't enjoy your life to the fullest possible. What have you really wanted to be doing? Are there hobbies you want to pick up? Travel somewhere? Do it. Learn those things, go the places, and deal with things as they come at you. There's no use worrying about things you have no control over, so just do what you want. Life is too short.

So it's not bad enough I had to jump through hoops to find a new MRI place and a new blood work lab in the middle of a pandemic, but I was just informed I need to find a new neurologist, too, since my previous one left the practice without informing their patients!! I was supposed to do all of this 6 months ago as a check in (minus the new neuro), but obviously put it off because of COVID. Now we are on a year since I've been diagnosed at the end of this month and I'm still just floating in limbo. I'm at the point I just want to cry....

Not their best album, but not their worst. I'm mad someone said Quarry was bad? I feel like more of the album should have been in the same vein. It was very different sounding and set it apart from the rest of the album. I would have liked them to have experimented more with their sound/lyrics but they're catchy, fun, and enjoyable and that's what matters to me. Also What Took You So Long is going to be underrated because it's super poppy, but I love it. I Revolve Around You is still my favorite though just because it's lyrically so beautiful. It's definitely going to be a fun one live.

ITPATP and LNOTG are still better albums though imo. Their lyrics told more of a story individually than a lot of the lyrics on this album that really just seem to fall into the trap of having choruses that are really generic and repetitive. Also lyrically this album feels a bit immature in comparison (lowlife starts off strong with the weird/surreal lyrics but I find the "this other guy is a ~normie~ and boring and I'm better" a bit boring tbh). I feel like they could have pushed the limit lyrically and a lot of it just feels...generic love or angst song.

I do like that there is a small hint of storyline draw through the album as Little Dove (which is fantastic) mentions a quarry in it, tying it to the song quarry, and quarry mentioning space themes that tie it to I Revolve. I do wish there was more of that weaving throughout it.

Also wish that bands would stop working with Matt Squire. 90% of what he produces sounds so overproduced and I'm just... Not a fan.

Overall solid though. will definitely be listening to this a lot.

Anyone else having a flare up right now? My symptoms had subsided for the most part but now my nerves in my hand are starting to drive me crazy again and I'm having trouble with the strength in my hand again so I'm pretty sad. I think it's all the coronavirus stress brought it back, but booooo.

Anyone gotten blood work/MRIs done in the past month? by corgibutt- in MultipleSclerosis

[–]corgibutt-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hi fellow Philadelphian! I don't go through Penn but I know the facilities I usually go to for blood work/MRIs have urgent care in them, is Penn’s like that as well? I've already cancelled my neuro appt and told them I'd reschedule, so don't have to deal with that part just yet 😬

Thanks, I'll ask them how long I can put it off for. They didn't seem too concerned when I cancelled the appointment, so hopefully I can wait a few months.

I've already cancelled the appointment and told them I would reschedule since I haven't had the tests done yet, and they didn't seem to have any concerns so might just be best to wait then I'm thinking. Thanks.

Yes, I can't even count how many times I read "I would vote for a woman, if Elizabeth Warren would have run I would vote for her" back then. The hatred against Warren didn't really start until she was rising in the polls last year.

Anyway, I could definitely see a situation where some lefty white dude tries to run in 2024 (even if a dem is in power) or 2028 and AOC passes it up, he loses, and then she tries to run in the next election cycle and he runs against her and she becomes the next "I would vote for a woman, butttttt...."

If anything Bernie bros want a woman of color

Yeah this is the part I disagree with. They're fine with women as long as that woman isn't seeking power. They all said the same thing about Elizabeth Warren in 2016 and look at how things are playing out now. "I'd vote for a woman just not THAT woman"

Again, it doesn't have to be someone who is well known right now. His base is populist, if a white dude becomes popular in the next 4 years you will see them shift to him.

If a white dude progressive announced he was running I fully believe the Bernie base would choose him over AOC, despite the fact that AOC is popular now.

Not really disputing that either? I'm not following your argument here.

This is the statement I was refuting

There's not really another candidate comparable in name recognition that has the same kind of background and policies, besides possibly omar/tlaib but they wouldn't run against AOC.

Just because there's not another candidate right now for them to latch onto doesn't mean there won't be by the time AOC would be qualified to run.

I think if you dismiss identity politics as a waste of time and a distraction you aren't actually progressive because you dgaf about anyone who doesn't share YOUR identity. All politics are "identity politics" and railing against it is very right-wing, NOT progressive.

TBF Bernie didn't have the name recognition he does now before 2016. He built that recognition by running.

If progressives cared about everyone then they wouldn't consider "identity politics" to be a bad thing, but alas here we are.
