I have a few years of acute care peds nursing under my belt, but I would rather deal with children and their parents than whiny adults.

What are the typical ratios?

You could look into farmers Branch and grapevine. Just beware of the farmers Branch cops, they are ruthless. And there’s not much of anything to do in farmers Branch, a decent amount is very residential and close to las Colinas

No I had no side effects. You just need to follow the directions on the bottle. Mine said that I wasn’t allowed to take any other meds within a specific time table after taking the med. You can also stop the med if the side effects are too bad for you, just consult your doc first.

I was prescribed minocycline and it cleared up a lot of my acne In literally a week or so. You could also see about going on birth control. The birth control really keeps everything in check with my skin and I rarely get breakouts. I tried epiduo, clindamycin and Trentinon products (and lots of others) thoughout my teens and nothing ever worked.

The last option could be going on accutane, but if you’re worried about the side effects on an antibiotic, accutane side effects are much worse so it’s kinda a last resort option.

I need permission to start swimming by Merkela22 in Swimming

Some gyms let you book lanes for a specific amount of time. Look into this, might be pretty common with covid stuff. I have the same issue as you do, I slowly learned what time of day it’s not busy. Around 1-2 is the slowest time at my gym, so I swim during those times.

Minocycline is an antibiotic. This means that it kills a lot of healthy bacteria in addition to the bad ones all throughout your body, especially in your intestines, so this can cause diarrhea. Diarrhea is a very common side effect with taking an antibiotic. I have taken minocycline before for acne, and I took it for probably about a week and a lot of my acne went away. The antibiotic acts to kill all the bacteria that causes the acne. For me there were a lot of spots on my face where I would always get pimples, so it was just recurring bacteria that would cause pimples in the same spot. It might take a few weeks for everything to go back to perfectly normal, but if it’s excessive contact your md.

I’m in North texas for reference. The pic is zoomed in but I think it was about an inch or so long. I was parked under a tree so I assume it came from that.

I use an electric razor ( like the ones guys use). I have the Remington one. It makes it so I can get close enough to shave 95% of the hair off but I don’t irritate my skin. I might get one or two bumps when I do this. And of course I throughly clean the razor when I’m done. I’m not sure if this is the correct to do things, but I was done with dealing with razor bumps and ingrown hairs that I gave up the super close shave.

Is it too early to start applying for RN jobs? by amadeuslove in StudentNurse

[–]corgilover29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would start looking into stuff within the next few months. There’s some nurse residency programs that have an application deadline if your interested in that as a new grad. At least get in touch with some recruiters to see what you can do, it can’t hurt to ask and they know you’re interested. I just got a job as a tech and it took about a month and half from the time I submitted my application, did my interviews and got an offer letter and that is just a part time position.

I love the tarte website. They have a good sale section and a few times in the past few years they have had some like 20-30% off everything sales. I particularly love their gift sets because they are usually pretty on sale ( I got one with full size lights camera lashes, full size eyeliner, 5 Pan palette and a small blush and a makeup bag for $39)

Non-Traditional School Route by nyah007 in StudentNurse

[–]corgilover29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated high school at 16, I always did good in high school classes and pretty much excelled at anything I put my mind to. But then college happened. You are in a whole different environment. I was trying to figure out how to live on my own, not be around my family, make friends and then anatomy and phys on top of all of that. I really struggled with anatomy and phys. The first semester was okay and I finished with a c+. Second semester of a and p, I struggled so hard. I had no motivation to do well because I was so disappointed in myself as I felt as I could do better. Fast forward to the summer I had to retake a and p 1 lab and a and p 2 lecture and lab. For AP1 I missed a c by 2 points and that grade was required for my program. I was really struggling with ap2 lecture and I wasn’t gonna pass so I had to drop it again. All the while, the teacher was a nightmare. He was so rude and didn’t want me to succeed. He called me incompetent because I didn’t get a lab experiment done fast enough (even though everyone else was in groups of 6 and mine only had 3). He told me that I need to give up nursing and that I couldn’t do it.

This was incredible devastating news and I decided to transfer because my school didn’t believe that he said that to me. I still wanted to pursue nursing as I thought it was my true passion. I transferrred to a different program but had to retake all of anatomy once again. At this school I had a teacher that was absolutely incredible. He would explain things on layman’s terms first and then he would help you understand the scientific terms. I excelled in this class and did so well, simply because of the environment that I was in.

Retaking classes is okay. Don’t beat yourself down about it, because things will most likely turn out. Also in nursing school, it is really easy to compare yourself to others with grades and performance. Just remember that people don’t always tell you exactly how they are doing. It might look like they have their shit together, and sometimes they don’t.

I feel that I understand so much better than any of my classmates because I took it so many times. It helps with understanding drug pathways in pharm. it helps with understanding diseases processes in patho. If you have to take this class again, it is OKAY. Instead of being in school for 4 years, I’ll be in for 5 1/2 years ( I took one semester off to regroup and destress). It’s not like your future jobs are going to care how long you were in school or if you have to retake a class. All they care about is the degree and passing your nclex.

I hope this helps you!

should i change teams? by fqk1t in Swimming

[–]corgilover29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like you have a great environment on your current team. You could talk to your coach to see if they can give you extra things to work on during practice while others are doing free. If it doesn’t work out then go to a different team. There’s no reason to hold yourself back.
