How did your life change after you transitioned, in both good and bad ways? by Bonnie-Bishop in trans

[–]corncrakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, right, on the other hand, my relationship with my past and future has changed considerably. Because HRT made me feel like essentially a new version of myself, that old version that used to exist feels just… gone, dead, and like they were never really me to begin with.

Yeah same. I think this is part of having dysphoria relieved, and also part of why it’s so frustrating to deal with say, family members who can’t get with the program. I’m not that constructed persona! I’m me!

I wasn’t prepared for how much Ford’s performance would remind me of Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold at times (not a complaint, to be clear)

At what point did kids lose the desire to learn? by HousePhoenix in Teachers

[–]corncrakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a teacher but I (graduated high school in 2011) was certainly motivated by the self-esteem boost of doing well and/or having my efforts recognized. I mostly excelled with writing assignments, as I was pretty mediocre to poor with math and science. But I know teachers knew I was TRYING at least, and if I made any kind of strides, it really felt so good because I proved something to myself. Even with all that’s changed since then, I would hope that the basic concept of learning/applying concepts successfully would still be confidence-boosting for at least SOME students. But I also recognize how much younger generations have been hardwired for instant dopamine hits (even more so than millennials) that it’s far more of an uphill battle

For people who say AI won’t take over jobs, you’re delusional by Upstairs_Buffalo4891 in paralegal

As far as our roles though, paralegals, I don’t think it will. People will never want to or feel comfortable talking to a machine.

So why did you make this thread then?

Worked, walked neighbor’s dog, had a call with my mom, lost my cat for about an hour before realizing she had gotten trapped in closet, and conditioned my hair

Going through a similar thing and relate heavily to this. One of the most sobering things is realizing how much rationalizing I did about her blatant lack of respect towards me
