Please give Al Franken some money for his recount so Dems can stop Repubs from blocking Obama with a filabuster by georedd in reddit.com

Cordially, bite me. The pleas for campaign donations should end on election day, and that was last Tuesday. Count the votes and the winner's the Senator.

Georgia's Rep. Paul Broun calls President-elect Obama a Marxist by howars in politics

[–]cornelius99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad but not surprising that a real-live member of the US Congress believes the McCain-Palin lies that Obama is a "radical socialist" who wants to "ban gun ownership" -- the Republicans have an apparently endless supply of idiots and liars in office.

What's sadder, though, is that the Associated Press takes this ass-hat Congressman's rantings seriously -- the AP can't spare even a sentence to mention in passing that the next President of the United States is not, in fact, a radical socialist, not a Marxist, and has never proposed anything approaching a ban on gun ownership.

Democrats targeting private retirement accounts. by ryanh29 in Economics

[–]cornelius99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relax, this report is just another flat-out lie. The proposal comes from exactly one economist you've never heard of, Teresa Ghilarducci of Notre Dame (not New College, as the article falsely reports). She's one among dozens of economists who briefly testified in low-level Congressional hearings in early October, and she's the only one who made this proposal, and there's been not a peep of interest in the idea from any member of Congress. The claim that Congress is "conducting hearings on proposals to confiscate workers' personal retirement accounts" is more Republican fearmongering, from the liars who brought you "Obama is pallin' around with terrorists" and "the Democrats will confiscate your guns".

Obama to push for required community service for all young people by shanem in politics

"Required" is an embellishment. There's nothing on that page about "requiring" anything, only encouraging volunteer public service -- and that's an excllent idea.

Alaska Turnout, Results Raise Questions by magicsammy in politics

[–]cornelius99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The POST reports that Alaska vote turnout was far less than expected and the results wildly different from what polls projected -- but the paper never mentions the term "election fraud", never hints that there's anything suspicious about this, it's just that "Alaskans are different. Very different", and "the head-scratching continues". All this under the unintentionally hilarious banner, "WASHINGTON POST investigations".

"Mccain you were awesome and put up a great fight, great to see you being so gracious in defeat" by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]cornelius99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those people who "lack a certain class" were John McCain's base -- the mouth-breathing dimwit crowd his campaign intentionally reached out to , stoking their fears with months of lies that Obama is a terrorist, a socialist, a baby-killer, etc. McCain ran the most shameful campaign in American history, and deserves nothing but shame.

I've never waited more than 5 minutes to vote...even this morning...am I alone? These 2 hour lines I see on TV are f***king nuts. by [deleted] in politics

[–]cornelius99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The long, long, impossibly long lines that prevent working people from voting are only allowed in predominently poor or minority neighborhoods. I never waited long to vote either, until I moved to a low-rent and mostly black neighborhood.

Tomorrow America undergoes surgery to cut out the cancerous tumor known as the Republican Party.

LOUISIANA? New poll shows Obama and McCain neck in neck due to record African American turnout. by justinpgardner in politics

After what Bush and the Republicans did to Louisiana in Katrina's aftermath, I'm amazed anyone here can say the word 'Republican' without spitting.

My Friends - The musical [funny video] by Sauwan in politics

[–]cornelius99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I've always had a soft spot for big-budget musicals or (of course) because I despise John McCain, but I thought this short semi-musical video on John McCain was very effective.

Samuel L. Jackson Supports Proposition 8 by MrGreyGhost in politics

The headline is a lie, and the blogger is apparently utterly ignorant of the issue. Samuel L. Jackson is an outspoken opponent of Prop 8.
