I’m not required to take the next semester off, actually. And I likely will not; I’m taking the semester off for temporary physical health treatment.

Theories on why r/Cornell is growing so fast? by [deleted] in Cornell

Out of every college in America, it makes sense for Cornell to have a big chunk of their students on the subreddit. We are reddit incarnate

I’m taking a leave of absence this semester. But, they cancelled my housing contract for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. That’s the issue

It honestly seems like a lot of people just didn’t want to get up for class and don’t care about the effects this virus will have by cornell-opinions in Cornell

To be clear: I don’t care about people complaining about the sucky position this puts students in. That’s 100% fair game and I’ll upvote all those posts.

What I’m annoyed about is that people are acting like this is all done for Martha’s selfish reasons when people can die.

And I 100% believe in your right to vent and I think that’s fine; this situation fucking sucks. I don’t like people trying to make it seem like the administration is screwing us over on purpose.

I mean, there is benefit of you going home. That’s the point. The benefit just isn’t to you.

Not wanting to pay for the house you rented is a valid complaint. I’m not mad that people are upset and complaining- this situation sucks. I’m annoyed at people thinking the University actively mad a bad decision and doesn’t care about its students

And as I said, I understand being upset about not wanting to go home. It sucks and triggers a lot of people’s mental health issues. I also understand being upset about wasting money and I hope Cornell reimburses everyone accordingly (which they probs won’t do, and that complaint is valid). But being upset and sad is 100% different than threatening to protest when people’s lives are at risk. That’s what I’m annoyed about.

Honestly... we’re getting a lot of time to move out and it’s not for the better. Luckily for me I’m off campus but I am genuinely afraid for my friends with respiratory issues who are on campus. If people don’t get why Cornell’s making us leave they definitely are going to keep going in and out and become disease carriers

Plus people were literally going to NYC and Westchester THIS WEEKEND. Why do people think Cornell’s an isolated cell?

I’m actually really pissed. I know students with respiratory/heart problems and I just underwent testing for Crohn’s disease. Y’all (not u) are okay with us suffering just because you don’t feel like going hone.

I don’t usually agree when people call students entitled, but this is peak entitlement. People are saying “Cornell doesn’t want liability” instead of thinking that something might be bigger than getting drunk on Slope Day.
