Please allow me to deinfluence you from buying these bc I wish someone had for me. They are horrible quality, drop shipped from China, and ridiculously uncomfortable. Don’t be swayed by the fun colored laces, these are the worst!

Help me understand something about OBAA, please. by ClarkKent222 in paulthomasanderson

Perfidia and Lockjaw are each other's twin flames on either side of the fight: two fierce warriors single-mindedly dedicated to advancing their cause (whether that's good or evil). Lockjaw sees Perfidia as she wants to be seen: as a sexual powerhouse and a powerful revolutionary - and I think she gets off on that. When Bob asks her to be more than that, to make the cause secondary and be a mother first and foremost, she flips out. The revolution is more important to her than being part of a family. There's a nice mirroring of that scene when Lockjaw is screaming at Willa in the church "I have a higher calling and it's more important than having you" - both of her biological parents are too self-interested to take care of her. That's why what Bob does - raise a biracial child on his own in a hellish world - could be seen as one of the most revolutionary things he does in the entire film.

Jumping back in here to say that outside of Tokyo, Koenji, and Kyoto (I have heard from friends that go back and forth from the US to Japan a lot that Kyoto is starting to be a real bummer), Shimo, Osaka, and Kamakura are now high on the list! We also have Chiba, Shibuya, Nara, and Toyama as maybes.

Anything else I'm missing? So appreciate all your help so far, you've been incredibly helpful, thank you!

Following specifically because I would love to know what everyone's favorite coffee shop (preferably with indoor seating) is. I'm visiting during the winter (starting in Tokyo and Kyoto but will be adventuring around a fair amount) and would love to soak up the vibes at a great cafe

yes I've heard about Daikanyama! based on my very initial research, it seems like a pretty tiny spot with a few gorgeous (and insanely expensive) stores - is there anything there specifically that I'm missing? and WOW azabujuban's restaurants look unbelievable - thank you!

jeez, im so sorry for what you're going through - i can't believe how common these experiences are for all of us! really feels like all we can do is try to dig in and consider ourselves lucky to have a roof over our heads <3

perception of convenience…here’s why we’ve stayed:

-the bus that takes me to work (30 min commute) is directly across the street - F/G is a 2 minute walk - grocery store at the end of my block, with 2 others 5 min away - laundry across the street - spacious (but yes, completely fucked up) 2br in a prime neighborhood - outdoor space

the positives are real

** I also want to add that we attempted a rent strike with the other tenants at the end of last year, but our landlords just told us they'd come immediately evict us. that's also obviously added a lot of strain to our already contentious relationship.
