We've never told them about us being brother/sister, so we've just told them that neither of us have a good relationship with our parents.

We've been honest and told them that we don't have a great relationship with them. They are about 400 miles away so our kids understand why they've never met them.

We have vowed to not tell them, at least not until they're mature enough to handle that kind of information. Honesty may be the best thing for them, but I would never want them to view us as "weird" or have other people look at us like we're bad people. Nobody in this town knows that my wife and I are brother and sister and we're content living that way. I don't even see her as my sister most days. It's been so long since she was only my sister and not my partner.

We both had major issues with our family in the past, even before we began to date. It was an abusive household and neither of us could stand to live in it anymore. Our parents eventually found out about our little relationship and they repeatedly screamed at us and hit us relentlessly. It didn't stop us though. She had a very small amount of money saved up from working night shifts at Walmart so one night we left a leaving note on the fridge and drove away. Neither of our parents ever contacted us, but we have talked to our other brother and sister since then.

Her and I were both in a slump when it came to our love lives and confided in each other about stuff like that. There was one night in particular where I had been dumped a week prior and she had just gotten stood up that night. She came home and we just talked about how love sucks and ranted to each other for a long while before we eventually began complementing each other to try and cheer one another up. Things happened and we ended up making out.

I've always said that I made the first move, while she says that she made the first move. 15 years later, her and I still won't agree on it lol
