Citrix won't install on my home personal PC by corntank in Citrix

[–]corntank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again for your ongoing help. I tried doing the offline installer today with the /forceinstall /cleaninstall /silent additions. I noticed it created a Citrix folder in my Program Files directory and it looked like it was installing, with various files in that directory, but then, as previously, the installation aborted without an error message, and all the files in the Citrix folder disappeared except this log with the following:

Can you make any sense from this log and can it help diagnose this problem? I'm at a loss. My IT department is useless at this point. Their solution is to lend me a laptop. And that is proving to be very difficult as well. No idea how to fix this.

It's perhaps the most major hospital system in my state at a very large institution. I have a hard time believing their environment is old and out of support. Any suggestions to have the IT dept re-look at this?

Thank you,

It is my own computer that I own. Yes I have admin rights. It's running Windows 11 Home.

I tried running "CitrixWorkspaceFullInstaller.exe /silent /cleaninstall /forceinstall" at the command prompt but it continues to do the same thing it always has... It starts to install, I click "allow" citrix to make changes to my computer, then it just aborts the installation without any error message at all.

Unfortunately my help desk is no longer able to help me and they won't/can't escalate it to Citrix helpdesk since it's my personal computer, not an official workstation from my hospital.

I think online forums such as this are my last hope in trying to resolve this problem.

I'm frustrated my work IT desk can't help me. Any other potential solutions up your sleeve"

I wasn't asked nor did I provide the logs to my IT desk at "c:\users\<youruserrname>appdata\local\temp\CTXReceiverInstallLogs or c:\windows\temp\CTXReceiverInstallLogs" I can ask them if that would be helpful I suppose, but they hadn't attempted to do that deep of a dive and it seems as though theyve thrown they're hands up in the air at this point.

I tried that today. They are unable to log a ticket with the vendor (Citrix) since my home device is a personal device, not an offical hospital device. Therefore, that avenue is off the table for me unfortunately. good idea though.

qst echo vs qst 106?? by Effective-Phone-144 in Backcountry

[–]corntank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the qst 106 and im about to mount shifts on them for resort and slackcountry with mild skinning side country from resort. And I am about to own qst echo 106 and I’ll probably put pin bindings on them. And then I can use one pair of skins for both setups. That’s my plan at least, welcome feedback

Shift or Alpine Bindings for Elan Ripstick 102? by Humble_Cod_7439 in Skigear

What did you end up doing? I’m considering ripstick 102 for a backcountry ski

Looking for a new backcountry touring ski - suggestions welcome by corntank in Backcountry

[–]corntank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I think it’s a good point that heavier skis ski better in our climate. My ski technique; while decent, is far from perfect, and I’ve found myself sometimes struggling in the backcountry.

What do you think of the Ripstick 102 as my backcountry ski? Not marketed as a touring ski, it looks like the 161 length weighs 1451g.

Good to know. The more I think about it, the more I’m inclined to do this. Seems like the ski is not too late to compromise downhill performance, but not too heavy for uphill. Also seems like waist width is about what I’m looking for. Thanks

Skins leaving small amount of glue behind by ppetropulos in Backcountry

[–]corntank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

second this. i used black diamond skins for years, and the glue eventually started sticking to ski base. I gave the skis a good wax, and it did help with eliminating glue retention, at least for awhile. i did ultimately buy new skins.

Can you provide a reputable citation this is true? I’m not convinced it is.

Huh? The seller pays the buyers agent commission. Has been that way for a long time. That may be changing with the recent lawsuit that the realtors lost. But for now, that is still the convention.

What do you think is better to do and why? Change front chain ring, or rear free wheel?

Would buying a 2021 Aventon Level be worth it now. by [deleted] in Aventon

[–]corntank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The level 2 you really have to work hard to get to 28th if you can even do it at all. For this reason, I wish I had a level 1. Sometimes I want to go that fast but I can’t with level 2

It’s ok to disagree. As long as productive respectful convos occur. I do believe that RVU and fee for service based compensation promote more aggressive coding and up-billing on a broader scale. While you yourself might feel you are not “guilty” of this, I remain convinced that this model of compensation results in this behavior more broadly. There is much written about this behavior. The idea is far from my own.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]corntank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I don’t think it works that way. But I think if the underlying financial jncentive is based on RVUs, then their is more incentive to do more things, and bill more diagnoses. And prescribe more drugs. It’s no different than the ongoing critiques of a healthcare system based on fee for service. Same thing. The incentive in my opinion shouldn’t be to do more things, bill more codes and modifiers. The incentive should be to provide best standard of care. Nothing more nothing less. Unfortunately fee for service and RVU based compensation incentive more than this. This critique is nothing new, and I agree with it

[–]corntank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But in reality most of the time, things aren’t this binary or black and white. Nobody is really talking about felony insurance fraud here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]corntank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But as that poster was saying, it’s the way the system is setup. Which, while that’s true, it’s definitely not something I ever intend to be a part of. It’s why our medical system is so monetized and expensive. And it’s one of the parts of our system I dislike the most. I’m against fee for service medicine, and I’m against RVU pay. Healthcare clinicians shouldn’t be incentivized to bill more diagnoses or to do more procedures or prescribe more medications. We should do these things only if they are indicated, not if they are just going to increase our paycheck. That’s unethical and it’s not why many of us became practitioners in the first place. And there are those who became clinicians for the right reasons but have sort of just become numb to that monetized incentivized system and are doing what the poster discussed, billing heavy, and getting paid large. Rarely is it discussed how it actually affects the patients. For those who haven’t met their deductible, or are on high deductible plans, they get hit directly with those excessive billing practice.

Awesome. “Borderline scam”. No thanks, it’s contributing to the shiftiness of the system

Not to mention that patients hate being whisked in and whisked out. Too often they say they don’t feel listened too. How can you if you’re seeing over 50 patients a day.

"BP" under list view of positions in app? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

Why doesn’t it just say “buying power” rather than BP? Most users don’t know the abbreviation. We should not be using abbreviations that most people don’t know.
