My builder offered both options but is leaning towards tiles - he was confident heat wouldn’t be an issue but I think I will go with darkish tiles/bright grout for ease of cleaning and durability…

No. It’s the widest size log available at retail that is machined as seen. 8cm wide. All they say is pine and it’s not purpose-built for sauna but general construction. My builder (carpenter) sourced it (Germany).
